Are you getting a puppy in the next week or so? Don't leave it until your puppy is old enough for class to enquire. We are now taking bookings for March 18th courses. We've had to disappoint so many people this week because they have a puppy ready to start classes and we don't have any spaces for February. 😪 Get your pups name down asap! 🏃🏃‍♀️

We've got some new training treats for you to try in stock this week!
It's a high meat content firm sausage that you can chop up into small pieces for training. Super yummy!
£2.50 each for 400g

Who else hates leaving their dog? 😂

Let's talk about weight! January is a time of year when we think about our own expanding girth but sometimes neglect to notice the dogs!
Sadly at least half of the dogs we see in class are overweight. There are so many overweight dogs, I often think people don't even notice because they compare their dog to another overweight dog.
Your dog's body should tuck up towards their back legs when viewed from the side and should tuck in behind the ribs when viewed from above. And yo...u should be able to easily feel the ribs, as in when you just place your hands over the ribs not when you have to press down a bit. 😉
Especially if your dog has any kind of joint problem you should aim to keep them on the light side of normal, but really all dogs benefit from being kept fit and toned! 🙂

Yesterday we had Karen visit for our first private training session with my Border Collie pup. I was worried as my wee girl is very nervous around people but I had no reason to worry Karen was very professional and reacted amazingly even when my pup was barking and growling a little.

She was able to get Keira to trust her with fair ease and I and my family were so impressed by how much Karen was able to demonstrate in just one hour and a half session! Keira is very intelligent, but we needed some guidance on how best to help her with her nervousness and general obedience as it has been almost a decade since we have raised a puppy and so much has changed but Karen was amazing in making sure we have understood eventing she demonstrated and were able to do it easily.

We plan to have another session with Karen in a couple of weeks and are so pleased at how she made sure we knew she was available at any point to get in contact with.

I can't fault the service that you provide in the slightest and I can see how beneficial it will be to my wee girl so thank you for all your hard work!

We really enjoyed and have got (and are still getting) so much out of our block of classes. We enjoyed the first block so much were hoping to go back for more! The whole Paw Skills team are great, relaxed, understanding and not least hugely knowledgeable.

User

We did the puppy training class with a very exuberant lab/collie puppy.

Now aged two she has matured into a very well behaved much loved member of the family. Her recall is excellent, in fact there is nothing she won't do for liver cake.

I can't recommend Fiona and Riz's class enough. It trains the owner more than the dog of course. Agility class next for us.

User

We couldn’t recommend Paw Skills more. We came to puppy classes with our whippet when he was just 12 weeks old. At almost 5 months now he is doing so well, great recall, impulse control, general commands etc. These classes are fun, and not only teach your dogs desired behaviours and help them socialise but as an owner, you learn how to best deal with different situations too. Our dog loved his classes! As first time dog owners their advice and training methods were invaluable. If you’re looking to bond with your pup, and have a good relationship with you where he really listens, Paw Skills really are great!

User

These are terrific classes run by friendly, helpful and knowledgeable instructors in a fun and positive way. My 6 month old puppy did the puppy class and has now progressed to a much more advanced class where he will have to learn several tricks, walk to heel on both sides of me and do a 2 minute stay amongst other tasks. We had our first night in the new class on Monday and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you love learning new things with your dog then this is the class for you☺

User

Paw Skills sessions are brilliant, for dogs and people of all ages. I thoroughly recommend to anyone who wants to develop life skills and the bond with their dog in a fun relaxed atmosphere. Flora, labradoodle , has progressed from puppy classes, through intermediate and advanced , plus tricks classes and some individual topic days including recall and now we enjoy mix it up classes. The skills we have both learned ( and continue to learn ) totally enrich our lives in all everyday activities. Thank you Fiona and Rizia . My scatty puppy has grown into a lovely adult thanks to your training .

User

Oscar and Piper (and Mum) learnt so much in such a lovely positive environment. We all looked forward to our Monday night class and Mum was delighted to have an alternative to walking in order to tire the pups out! These classes really do strengthen the bond you have with your pups and proves mental stimulation is key to a happy, healthy pup and your relationship with the pupper! Can't wait for the intermediate class and recall classes. Need to do something pretty special with the pups on a Monday night to fill the void until intermediate class!

User

My pup has learned loads in his puppy course and we both really enjoy it. Definitely taking more courses with Fiona in the future. Can't recommend enough. Practical commands but also fun and good bits of advice for general dog/puppy care.

User

I'd heard loads of great things about Fiona and Rizia and Paw Skills. Today was my first course with them and what a great time we had Toby got some new experiences, met new dogs in a new park and we all learned new and better ways of playing recall games. Toby thoroughly enjoyed himself The lessons were straight forward, well explained, well linked and worked quickly. The trainers were also rapid at coming up with effective alternative methods any time dogs and owners were struggling a bit so everyone got to move on together Looking forward to practising with Toby and with my other pups. Thank you ladies. Highly recommended!

User

I would defo recommend Paw Skills School for any dog... Everyone is so patient and understanding. The class is big challenge for my dog due to other dogs being around and in a closed environment, which he couldnt cop with before. Now after 5 weeks he can easily focus on me and do what I am asking for (still looking around and at other dogs). It is amazing to get feedback from Fiona and Rizia, as small things that you change make it so much easier for dogs. Roger (my dog) loves his Monday, that look in his eyes when we approached the Community Centre... I know he likes it a lot too. We cant wait for next weeks and to see how my dog master the tricks class ;) (maybe after a year). Thank you very much for so much fun and understanding for my wee pooch.

User

I have done the beginners class and it was fab. My puppy has loved going to the classes and I have learnt so much being a first time dog owner and met lots of lovely people too! We're now signed up for the recall and intermediate class. Thank you Fiona and and Riz!

User

I have been to several classes with both my dogs. I know they love the classes as soon as they recognise where they are going they get so excited they can't wait for me to open the door. Learning is fun for both the owner and the dogs. I have learned so much both from the classes and also from the information on the website.

User

I have been going to classes with Fiona and Paw Skills for about 2 years now. From puppy socialisation to beginners, intermediate and tricks training. It is a relaxed safe environment with small classes so you get good group and individual training. It is as much about training your dog as the owner so that the owner can train the dog at home. My dog loves it and the things she has learnt provide mental stimulation as well as good behaviour. Can't recommend it highly enough.

User

I had a 1 to 1 with Fiona for my pair of reactive dogs. She introduced me to a new technique and it works wonders. I'm slowly managing to walk past other dogs without my two barking. Brilliant trainer and will defo recommend to my friends and anyone who needs some extra help.

User

I can't speak highly enough of Fiona and Riz at Paw Skills, my collie is a sensitive wee soul and Fiona is the first trainer I've worked with to understand that and actually teach me how to help her. She thrives and flourishes at paw skills! She improved immediately after implimenting the methods we learnt in class and has continued to improve into a more confident dog who listens and wants to behave well. Positive reinforcement is definitely the way to train your dog and Fiona is definitely the lady to help you :)

User

I attended the recall workshop with my GSP last year and it was brilliant! It was very well organised, friendly and lots of practical work related to using the training outside a class environment which made it much easier to continue the training on walks and I have seen a big improvement with Raffie. Plenty of time was given to help each individual and Fiona and Riz were so helpful with any questions I had. Will definitely attend another workshop!

User

Hope and I have thoroughly enjoyed classes with Fiona and Rizia - Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced :) All the classes have been fun for the dogs and humans alike and all Fiona's exercises have a practical application in the real world. Great fun for all!

User

Highly recommend Fiona's classes. They are fun and informative and my Ozzy is loving them! His behaviour has improved at home since we started training him regularly as he is more engaged. We've already learnt some new games and tricks to keep him focussed on us.

User

Fiona and Rizia are amazing!!!

They give sound and supportive advice that complies with only positive reinforcement methods.

Charlie and I will be sad when the trick training sessions come to an end.

Thanks to you both for helping to bring out Charlie's inner most confidence to the surface. You guys are fabulous! Xx
