A recent symposium organised by graduates Ilaria Bernocchi (2015) and Nicolò Morelli (2014) is a perfect example of the benefits of interdisciplinary collaboration. Their symposium, 'Petrarch and Portraiture', brought together scholarsfrom different discplines to explore the importance of Petrarch to literary study, Italian culture, and the history of art.
In this video they discuss why they held the symposium, and how they benefited from the experience. https://youtu.be/CXwyW2RcAh4

Congratulations to Scott, winner of the 'Study Abroad' PKP Photo competition. We're enjoying seeing the PKP summer programme through the eyes of the students.

Today on the Kit Smart blog: Chris writes about his work as a Programme Assistant on the Japanese Summer Programmes at Pembroke: http://ow.ly/lKWE30ll3vc
"I enjoyed the PA experience on both programmes so much in 2017 that I re-applied to come back for more after graduation. And who knows, having had such a great time once again, I might just be able to squeeze another programme (or two) in before starting a graduate scheme!"

College cat Millie was deeply unimpressed by the all-day rain yesterday, and felt it was necessary to shelter under an umbrella despite being indoors.

Today on the Kit Smart blog: Meet the new GP President, Ben Jackson (2012).
"The primary role of the GPC I think is to make the graduate community feel as welcome and as at home here as possible. And then there’s the side of things of representing graduate students’ opinions to both the College and the University. But I think more than anything the role of the committee is to bring graduates together and facilitate the meeting of graduates, and create a friendly atmosphere."

In the latest video in our 'Graduates of Pembroke' series, Eric Rogers (2017) combines the histories of architecture and social reform to explain how we came to have some of the social norms we have today, and how some people are (re)making their own.

If you're a current graduate student and would like to be interviewed for this series, please let us know.

"I would never have imagined how much I would grow in the first 21 days of PKP. The classes are rigorous, the workload is intense, and adjusting to life in a different country is always slightly stressful, but the experiences that I have had so far at PKP are ones that I will never forget."
Today on the Kit Smart blog: Pembroke-King's Programme student Kayla tells us about her academic classes so far, over halfway through the six-week programme. http://ow.ly/xm4j30lfExu

Today on the Kit Smart blog: To say that art engages the senses is obvious; to say it engages all of them is less so. Lizzie (2016) and Lorraine (2014) are art historians with a shared fascination about Art and the Senses. Read today's blog or listen to the accompanying Pemcast - Pembroke's three-a-year podcast series - to hear about the seminar series they organised this year. Their explorations have led them to explore digestion and the creative process, womb fumigation in 17th century print, and even what dinosaurs might have smelt like. http://www.pem.cam.ac.uk/kit-smarts-blog/ art-and-the-senses/

Mind the nano-gap! Back at the beginning of July Pembroke PhD candidates Shruti (2015) and Anna (2016) showed us around the Cambridge NanoDTC display at The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition. The display demonstrated a number of ways in which nano-materials could be used to create sensors. https://youtu.be/knBdnWnzN5E

The Pembroke-King's Programme PAs are an essential part of PKP, keeping everything running smoothly and providing a selection of activities to introduce PKP students to our lovely city. We caught up with Magda, Salma, and Mark to ask what PKP is like for them. http://ow.ly/uRaR30l93mt

Thank you to our Library team for another wonderful display, this time marking 150 years since the birth of Gertrude Bell - a traveler, writer, photographer, linguist, diplomat, and spy.

The waffles are fabulous, and of course it is the best college in Cambridge, but then I'm bias, my daughter is there.

User

My favorite college with beautiful garden.

User

Lovely people and lovely surroundings, have really enjoyed my trips down here

Just been back to Pembroke for a fabulous weekend to collect my MA. Food as always superb, gardens looking excellent, staff as welcoming as ever and future plans for the college sound very exciting. Cannot rate Pembroke higher and encourage any student considering applying to do so.

User

Gorgeous place & lovely friendly people. Very proud of my daughter who is part of this college

User

Attended William Pitt seminar, followed by the usual extremely good dinner. Very interesting discussion on The Role of Universities in C21 Britain with engaging arguments and claims made especially by, in my view, Prof Helen Small and Lord David Willets. Q&As went overtime, so I clearly wasn't the only one stimulated by the debate. Looking forward to next year.

User

A beautiful college with caring friendly staff.

User

Very informative Open Day For prospective students. Wonderful surroundings in spring sunshine.

User

One of the oldest and smallest colleges in Cambridge. Venture in and you will find yourself in a wonderful courtyard.

It is also probably the one offering the best food, in terms of variety and quality, among all the Cambridge colleges. Definitely worth trying squeeze in the dining room for a quick lunch together with lots of students.

Great college... If you've got money to burn

User

Educates people like Ronald Coyne, who burns money in front of poor people.
