We all hope you had a great Christmas and New Year but now things will be back to normal as schools return and others (who have been lucky enough to have been on holiday all this time) we would like to give you some travel advice for next week
Monday will be busy so please in the morning and late afternoon
* Plan ahead ... * Leave plenty of time for your journey * Dont phone up at 8.45am looking to get your kid to school by 9am * If you book a taxii and then dont require it please let us know * If you pre-book then we will get to you as close to that time as possible * Please dont phone multiple companies, we will just end up withdrawing our service from you
* Use our mobile booking app to book and track your booking/car *If you phone from your mobile use the link on the text we will send you to track your taxi
Apart from that have a great Monday morning. I am sure there will be a lot of happy school children desperate to get back to school (cough splutter) but more happy parents.

Penny Cars would like to wish all the staff, drivers and our customers a Happy New Year 2019 when it arrives tonight.
From 10pm on the 31st Dec to 5am on the 3rd of Jan all our fares will be Fare & a half. This includes our standard fixed prices. Remember there is still a £1 extra for bookings between midnight and 5am.
Our fares will still be cheaper than Airdrie Taxis who have suspended their 20% off discount for New Years (seems they missed that off their promotion T&Cs) ,... so you will be paying full Hackney Meter price plus fare & half (even though with 20% off we are still cheaper anyway)
Some important things to remember. *Advance bookings we will get too you as nearest that time as possible * If using a mobile track the driver via the text message we send * Use our Android/iPhone booking app and tracking your job status and even pay by credit/debit card (no additional fees) * Listen out for the call back on your phone * Don’t phone multiple companies as it will only get your service restricted * If you no longer need the taxi then please call to cancel it * Due to demand you will probably have to wait that bit longer
Now please * Wrap up well * Stay warm and dry * If in Glasgow make sure you get into the company who you have booked the car with (check the vehicle registration and signage) * Be safe and enjoy yourself

... Bookings We will take advanced bookings but as always, we will try and get to you as close to that time as possible.
Our Prices Being the cheapest operator serving Airdrie (we don’t have to offer 20% discount like others) we will be operating the follow tariffs
24th Dec - 10pm to 6am on the 27th December it will be Fare and a Half (after midnight there will still be the £1 charge)
The Fare and a Half will apply to all standard cars, six seaters and fixed fares
* If you book a taxi with us and no longer require it please phone * Please don’t phone multiple companies hoping one will turn up, if we see this happening we will restrict out service to you * Please check your phone for a text back (mobiles only) so you can track your vehicle * Please use the booking app for Android/iPhone to book at track your vehicle
Safety * All our drivers are licensed by North Lanarkshire Council * All our drivers are checked by Police Scotland * All our vehicles are tracked by GPS * You will receive the vehicle details on your text or see them on your app or if you call back will be told the vehicle if its been dispatched * Only pay the fare that you see on the screen * Do not get into any cars, particularly in Glasgow that are offering you a pickup, this is not only illegal by the driver but unsafe

Important Appeal to All our Drivers, Staff and Customers
As you know Foodbanks are now playing a major part in helping people around the year but more so at Christmas. At Penny Cars we have been doing some work with Airdrie Foodbank (helping with fixing up their big white van with rust removal and respray)
Our Friends at the Foodbank have now sent us over a list of "ESSENTIAL ITEMS" that they are running short of and desperately need.
... We believe that between our drivers, staff and customers, we can all come together to help people in their time of need.
So what do we need you all to do? Between now and next Friday 21st Dec we would like you to look at the list of items below, make up a bag of any of the items you can donate. You can then hand them into our office at Woodhall Street, ML6 8RR, or if you have booked a car with us, please ask your driver to drop the donation off when they next visit the office (this is where we need the drivers help).
For our Staff and Drivers they can also pass their donations into the main office.
The last time we did this we managed to raise 400KG of donations for Airdrie Foodbank and Coatbridge Community Foodbank this time round we want to get to the magin """" 1000KG **** if possible.
This will be split between Airdrie Foodbank and Coatbridge Community Foodbank
This maybe a bit short notice but its Xmas time and this brings the good out in people.

Penny Cars So many ways to book a taxi
* Andriod / iPhone booking App * Webbooker www.pennycars.co.uk * From your mobile phone (use the IVR or talk to operator)... * From your landline (use the IVR or talk to operator) * From one of our many freephones in Airdrie/Coatbridge
Pay cash or use our booking app or webbooker and register your debit/credit card. Dont struggle to try and find your cards at the end of the journey, keep it simple. No charge for using credit/debit card.
Also we dont have to offer 20% off as our first mile is £2.80 and each mile afterwards (charged in 0.1 of a mile) is £1.20.
Others smaller companies will charge you the North Lanarkshire Council Taxi Tariff and offer 20% off on certain types of bookings, even with that these smaller companies are still more exspensive.
Also no waiting time at traffic lights or in traffic but if you pop into a shop the driver will charge you waiting time.

Police Scotland and Scottish Gov launch the 2018 Festive Drink Drive Campaign
During the festive period Penny Cars will by busier than normal ....here is some advice
1. Plan your trip, leave plenty of time
... 2. If you pre-book we will get to you as close to the time as possible (again see point 1)
3. When it comes to your pickup check your phone for the text to track your vehicle and listen out for the callback.
4. If your taxi is on the way and your going trying to get your coats on to get our the bar/resturant etc then please call our number and selection the option to be connected to the driver and let him/her know.
5. If you no longer require the taxi then please call and cancel
6. Please dont phone multiple companies at the same time as drivers are not silly and if different companies pull up and see each other they will not pick you up and you may face a restriction on the service.
7. Dont try and take open containers of drink or food into the vehicle, the driver may refuse you.
8. If in Glasgow do not get into any vehicle that claims to be a taxi/private hire. There are taxi/private hire pirates around and some may not have insurance or even a taxi/private hire badge.
The main thing is to enjoy yourself but be safe. Also remember if your having to go out the day after, you might not be legally able to drive your car.
Dont put your life or others at risk, its not worth it.
