Perth city centre residents - if you live around Atholl Street and your bin is scheduled for uplift tomorrow morning (Tuesday), please be aware the bin crews will be visiting you first due to the roadworks. Please make sure your bin is presented at the kerbside for 7.30am so you don't miss them.

Today is the start of Recycle Week 2018! Across Scotland people are working together to boost plastic recycling to give new life to used packaging. All plastic bottles, ice cream tubs, strawberry punnets, cleaning bottles, shampoo bottles, etc. can be recycled in your blue bin. Good morning all. We're already having issues with frustrated drivers skipping red lights at the roadworks on Atholl Street. We know the delays are annoying but the staff are just doing their jobs and deserve a safe work environment. 🚦

Questions you should ask the dog breeder http://ow.ly/4edd30lQApX • How old are the puppies and are the puppies weaned? They must be at least 8 weeks old to leave their mother and they should be fully weaned at 7 weeks, if they are not weaned it could indicate that they are younger than the breeder is claiming • How old is mum? She should be over 1 year but normally under 8 • How many litters has mum had? It is illegal to breed a bitch more than 6 times in her lifetime • Have... the puppies been wormed and had any vaccinations? All puppies have worms at birth, worming should start when they are about 2 weeks old • Does the puppy look healthy – clean eyes, ears and bottom? If the puppy is unwell do not buy it • Is the puppy microchipped? It is a legal requirement for all breeders to microchip and register their own details prior to sale, the puppy must not be registered directly in your name. Remember to update the registration with your details, it is an offence not to have the correct details registered for a dog

Tenants living near Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre may notice that the building will stop being used at the end of September. This is because it has been found to have structural problems which are unfortunately, beyond repair. Since it became aware of these issues the Council has been working with all of the groups which use the centre, and they have all been found suitable alternative premises.
What happens next? Furniture and fittings will be removed and reused or recycl...ed. The building will be made secure until January 2019, when it will be demolished. This process will take until March 2019. The Council are considering the best future use for the site.
Councillor Murray Lyle, Leader of the Council, said: “It is sad to say goodbye to Fairfield, but the important thing is to keep people safe. Thankfully we have been able to rehome user groups elsewhere. My best wishes go to everyone who made use of Fairfield over the years, and I look forward to seeing the site reused in the future.”

Sadly we have to report that the high winds from Storm Ali earlier in the week have caused significant damage to the trees at Perth Crematorium.
Around 20 mature trees within the grounds have either been brought down, or badly damaged by the winds.
While some memorial stones have unfortunately been disturbed by the wind, or by tree roots, thankfully none appear to have been damaged. All memorials in the affected areas have been photographed and marked to ensure they can be re...turned as closely as possible to their original location.
While we understand families may be concerned about the impact on their loved ones’ memorial, with tree work still ongoing to make the area safe we would urge people to stay away this weekend. Anyone concerned about a particular memorial is asked to contact crematorium staff on Monday.
Councillor Angus Forbes, Convener of Environment & Infrastructure for the Council, visited crematorium staff today. Following the visit he said: "I understand that the gardens mean a lot to families who visit there to remember loved ones. Crematorium staff are managing the impact on the memorial gardens as sensitively as possible, ensuring that they are protected while the fallen trees and debris are cleared to the side, and to allow full visitor access to the memorial gardens as soon as it is safe to do so."

There will be a road closure of Atholl St (between Kinnoull St to North Methven St junction) starting this Sunday (23rd) to allow for re-surfacing works, which may impact Tuesday bin collections. The collection crew will attempt access first thing on the Tuesday morning to allow for this.

Atholl Street resurfacing works, September 2018
Just a reminder that these works are coming up this weekend (Sun 23 September 2018) with the section of Atholl Street between the Kinnoull Street and North Methven Street junctions scheduled to be closed for 5 days. The junctions themselves will remain open, however motorists should anticipate a significant level of disruption in this part of the city centre during the works, for which we would apologise.
Details of the diversi...on routes that will operate during the works are as follows: • Eastbound via North & South Methven Street, South Street, Scott Street and Kinnoull Street. • Westbound via Kinnoull Street, Scott Street, Canal Street, King Street, South Methven Street & North Methven Street.
Advance road signs have been placed on either side of the works to encourage traffic to use these alternative routes. Motorists are advised to follow the diversions, and also that traffic from Barrack Street and Caledonian Road will be siphoned into one lane when approaching Atholl Street itself.

Watch the video with sound for the cutest invite to a scarecrow festival you've ever heard :-)
This Saturday (22 September 2018) pupils and parents of Luncarty Primary School are going on a scarecrow hunt - and you're invited to join them.
The event is the third time Luncarty Scarecrow Festival has been held, organised by the parent council as part of fundraising work for the school, the festival encourages the whole community to get involved in creating imaginative scarecrow...s which are then housed around the village.
Pop along at any time between 10am and 4pm on Saturday to Luncarty Primary School. Then follow the clues to work out which scarecrows are holding a special letter. There are two routes on offer, one shorter, one longer - you can take part in one, or both. Solve all the clues, and collect the letters to find the secret scarecrow word for either route, and then return your completed entry to the school to be entered in the prize draw.

Just want to say a big thank you to the man driving the gritter on Tullybaccart tonight (about 4.50pm) He did a fantastic job guiding drivers through a difficult spot, running in and out of his vehicle to give instructions and generally help people get out a big snow drift. Some of the drivers didn't make life easy for him. He had been out all day and must have been freezing and exhausted. Well done, you did a great job! Thank you

User

Dear Perth and Kinross council. It has been widely publicised since Friday that there is going to be a cold spell with a pretty good chance that there will be snow, ice and freezing conditions over the next week. I parked in Victoria Street outside Matalan today and after a discussion with friends and other drivers checked on your website that parking was free today. When I returned to my car a traffic warden was ticketing cars that had not paid for parking. When I spoke with him he said that the parking was only free in the car park at the other end of Victoria Street. Luckily I got to my car before it was booked but I feel this should have been made clear on your website that the free parking did not include on-street. Good way for you to recoup your losses on the free parking!

You are the epitome of evil. Simple as that. Closing Beechgrove care home would be without doubt, one of the most heartless, self absorbed and just the most utterly selfish decisions any council could make.

As residents are getting moved to places like Auchterarder, the residents’ loved ones are left emotionally destroyed as seeing them is now nigh on impossible.

As residents are crying as they’re moved out saying they don’t want to leave, and staff and families are also distraught at proceedings, no doubt the council are happy with themselves that they’ve destroyed the lives of so many.

I would hope that as you lot in the council get older, you don’t have to go through the emotional roll-a-coaster and heartache that you as a council and individuals have caused all of us involved in Beechgrove either as families of residents, the magnificent staff as well as the vulnerable residents themselves.

In truth, 1 start wasn’t low enough. You deserve nothing and I hope in time your consciences (If you have them) play heavily on your mind for the lives you’ve destroyed.

You will be forever remembered as evil self centred tyrants who deserve nothing more than to rot in hell.

User

Whose great idea was it to introduce a ÂŁ25 charge per brown bin to get garden waste collected ?

Not only that you won’t empty it unless there is a permit attached to the bin !! Do you not think there are people who will take permits off other people’s bins ? It’s bound to happen .... well thought out once again P&K Council ! I don’t agree with the charge at all but does it not make sense to add it to the Council Tax charge ?

Unbelievable !!

User

Well Perth and Kinross Council seem to think that getting a wage rise and the cleaning of their building is more important than gritting a road the length of around 100 yards that has mainly elderly and disabled ďż˝ people as residents. Also it's just off a main entrance into a primary school (Gillespie Road) and would take a whole 2 minutes to reverse up the street and grit, but hey, the road is a priority 2 and pavements priority 3. If this is so why did you remove the grit bins? Why not relocate them if they were being misused? If there had been one at the end of the street (which is a dead end!) I would have gladly put some down, or I'm sure someone else would have. PKC killing off and injuring the elderly and disabled, Merry Christmas to one and all! Joke of a council!

This is for Housing Repairs and Improvements. (read the definition)

Repairs - sending someone competent out to do work and actually doing the work not have a cup of tea and leave with the problem still there saying you can't achieve the objective.

Improvement - making it better, not just replacing like for like in exactly the same configuration that it was in, that is known as Replacement certainly not an improvement.

Having staff that know what they are talking about and have experience in the field, not incompetent staffers with degrees that wouldn't know their A's from the Elbows. Having staff who report to managers with cloth ears who don't listen to what they say then make judgements, which only anger tenants, because they ignored everything the tenant and inspectors said.

I offered 3 ways, all were ignored, so now I still have a crappy bathroom where I am squeezed against a wall when I sit on the toilet because it is too close to said wall and a shower that is not a relaxing cascade of water flowing over my gorgeous body but a fight to the death with a shower curtain continually sticking to my big A**.

This is due to the council's incompetence as they took a rectangle, where the bath used to be, and changed it into a shower but put the shower on the easy wall, not the right wall and now they won't rectify that they would rather squander thousands just because they can!

I offered to do the job myself, getting contractors to do what I couldn't or where the work required certificates, they could chip in with some of the materials they would have supplied anyway but no, that is too complicated for their tiny brains.

Instead, they just reject everything out of hand, no wonder tenants are frustrated.

I can see me doing this job myself but of course, that would mean having to have ANOTHER visit for them to discuss EXACTLY the same as we have the last THREE times and them to ask the SAME questions AGAIN, tell me it is not possible and me state to them how it IS possible, then have to wait for 3 MONTHS for them to get back to me.

They then send me an email asking if I would consider Sheltered Housing.

I've submitted numerous complaints about incorrect council tax bill. Requested refunds and have been given an apology and waiting for the adjustment... on going since October 2017. Quick to charge and demand money but no giving it back ?!

User

I haven’t had my brown bin emptied for months. Every time I put the bin out I come to find it still full. I managed to grab one of the bin men and ask why it wasn’t emptied and he told me, “there’s fresh grass rather than clippings, so there must be soil” (they don’t take soil apparently. He also told me “there’s loose food waste”. It should be in the little biodegradable bags that you get for that TINY little compost bin. I live in a new build and was never given that TINY little compost bin when we moved in, still haven’t got one 2 years later. It also took around 6 weeks for us to get bins at all after we moved in.

And now I have to PAY for my bin to be ignored because of loose food waste and soil when I already pay ÂŁ160 a month on Council Tax to get my bins emptied ďż˝

Perhaps you should actually DO your job before you start pushing people for more when they don’t expect anything from you to begin with?

User

I am disgusted at the introduction of the ÂŁ25 per brown bin rubbish charge. This is a tax on those people who choose to look after their surroundings, and keep their gardens neat and tidy. I appreciate that if you live in a flat, as I did for very many years, you don't want to pay extra Council Tax to keep other people's gardens tidy. However, the sort of folk who don't cut their grass or tidy their gardens anyway will use this as an excuse to not bother now, quoting the cost as their excuse. Meanwhile, people like my old mother will struggle on to keep their gardens tidy, and will pay the ridiculous charge, which I have been informed by the council will not be rebated, even for those on benefits, pensions, etc. I believe my council tax should pay for removal of ALL my rubbish. You better rethink this decision P&K, or you might lose a few Tory seats at the next by-election.

User

Hi there,

Just read a post about taking care on slippy surfaces etc that you guys have no control over this etc! Totally understand and there for wonder why it is acceptable for a bin lorry to speed in to a school car park just before 9 am having paid no attention almost wiping out a car and then my daughter had crossed the road the bin lorry needed to turn into and the bin lorry drove in between myself and my daughter anyway?! This had happened before the bin lorry appeared. So she was on one side of the road with me and my baby on the other? Gladly there was another parent on the opposite side with my daughter as she may have tried to cross back over had she been on her own?! There was no care or consideration for the fact that they were in a school car park!! These are extremely large vehicles as I’m sure you are aware of and pretty sure it’s not easy to see a small child from. Including the blind spots that these vehicle have this was pretty dangerous and reckless driving. Maybe worth making these drivers aware that care in these situations and road condition may save lives?!

I've submitted numerous complaints about incorrect council tax bill. Requested refunds and have been given an apology and waiting for the adjustment... on going since October 2017. Quick to charge and demand money but no giving it back ?!
