My paper on on technology and the notion of crypto-futurism has been accepted! I'll be presenting it at the Futures Thinking Inaugural Conference that will take place at the University of Oxford, Wolfson College on 1-3 October 2019. Taking part in this event that will bring together so many different thinkers is truly exciting. More material will follow in due course; meanwhile, here's an abstract of the paper.

"Traditionally we understand ‘concepts’ and ‘notions’ as being the basic components of thinking, but I would like to suggest that without insights those notions and concepts are but static data. It is precisely an insight that sets the thought in motion. In fact, an insight is the very evidence, artefact, or trace of that motion. And this is, I claim, where writing starts: not with choosing the ‘right’ or ‘most interesting’ concept out of a myriad of other ‘less interesting’ concepts, but with capturing our insights. In other words, instead of jumping right into choosing a topic and following some (undoubtedly effective and very useful) academic writing manuals, it might be worth focusing on what our own insights have to offer first."
