Pilton Youth And Children'S Project (Pycp)

PYCP is a community organisation in Edinburgh that delivers a range of open access and tailored activities to children and young people aged 5 to 18.

PYCP was formed in 1997 from a merger between Pilton Youth Programme (PYP) and Pilton Adventure Play Association (PAPA).

PYCP provides a range of services and activities ranging from open clubs and groups to community and school based individual support, with each provision being designed to meet the needs of particular age and peer groups. Activities are tailored to meet these needs in consultation with the children and young people involved. Our work falls into 4 broad categories:

- Open access youth work
- Targeted and referred support work to children and young people in need
- Health and well being
- Progression routes for young people ie. volunteering programme, employability support

PYCP's core funding is through a service level agreement with Children and Families Department, City of Edinburgh Council, but we rely on several other additional grants with which to run our programme. For example, we recognised the importance of working with parents / carers in a more direct way and so secured funding to set up a weekly parents group.

We work with a range of partners in both the local and wider communities, including schools, health, social work, community safety, police and community learning and development. We are also part of Forth Youth Services Consortium with Muirhouse Youth Development Group and Granton Youth Centre, where we aim to work collaboratively and share resources.
