SCOTTISH MASTERS OPEN 2019
Pitlochry Weightlifting club member Ian Robertson won his 25th Scottish title at the Scottish Masters Open in Arbroath on Saturday. Lifting in the 81 kg (45 to 49 years) class. Ian snatched 70 kg and clean & jerked 95 kg for a 165 kg total. Also lifting was Alex Phillips who came second in the 89 kg (55 to 59 years) class. Alex snatched 47 kg and jerked 68 kg for a 115 kg total.

An absolute fantastic day at Pitlochry leisure centre with some amazing lifting from Scotlands top lifters.Scottish and British records being set and our own Hols(Holly Morrogh Bernard)Taking gold in her weight class! This is such an amazing achievement for our small town being able to host Scotlands biggest comp of the year and we have done for many years now.Thank you to all the lifters and everybody that helps and you should be so proud of what you all do!!!.

Fab day for the young Pitlochry Weightlifting club lifters at the Scottish schools and Scottish Development Cup round 1, in Stirling on Sunday. In the Scottish Schools Aimee Robertson won her 6th Scottish title when she triumphed in the 55 kg class. Aimee snatched 33 kg and clean & jerked 52 kg for a 85 kg total. Aimee set 22 new Scottish records in the U-15, U-16, Youth and U-18 age groups. Jamie Kemp won his 7th Scottish title when he won the 96 kg class. Jamie snatched 4...5 kg and jerked 59 kg for a 104 kg total. Lifting in the Development Cup Craig Meldrum won the U-11, 55 kg class with a 18 kg snatch and a 24 kg jerk for a 114 Biddle points total. Logan Johnston came 2nd in the U-13, 45 kg class with a 19 kg snatch and a 24 kg jerk for a 115 Biddle points total. Both Craig and Logan were successful with all 6 lifts and were awarded the maximum amount of technical points for their lifts.

Three members of Pitlochry Weightlifting club won medals at the Scottish Open in Edinburgh last weekend. ... Lifting for the first time at the new bodyweight classes Rowan Morrogh Bernard came second in the 64 kg class with a 65 kg snatch and a 84 kg clean & jerk for a 149 kg total, all of Rowan's lifts were new Scottish Under 18 records. Rowan's younger sister Holly was second in the 76 kg class with a 63 kg snatch and a 70 kg jerk for a 133 kg total. Holly set new Scottish records in the U-16, U-17, U-18, Junior and U-23 age groups. Finally Joanna Watt came third in the 81 kg class with a 48 kg snatch and a 65 kg jerk for a 113 kg total.

Nine members of Pitlochry Weightlifting club were in action at the Scottish U-18's and Scottish Development Cup Round 3. ... Five members were in the Development Cup. Eve Kemp won the U-11 48 kg class with a 27 kg snatch and a 37 kg jerk for a 128 Biddle points total. Kaine Johnston won the U-11 40 kg class with a 14 kg snatch and a 19 kg jerk for a 101 points total. Craig Meldrum won the U-10 50 kg class with a 17 kg snatch and a 23 kg jerk for a 108 points total. Rosie Morrogh Bernard won the U-12 48 kg class with a 25 kg snatch and a 32 kg jerk for a 127 points total. Logan Johnston came 2nd in the U-12 40 kg class with a 13 kg snatch and a 17 kg jerk for a 100 points total. After three rounds Eve, Craig and Rosie are all top of their age groups with Logan 2nd in his. There was more success for the club in the Scottish Under 18's, Rowan Morrogh Bernard won the 63 kg class with a personal best snatch of 64 kg and a 82 kg clean & jerk for a 146 kg total. Rowan also set 8 new Scottish records at U-18 and Junior level and she also won the Best Female Lifter award. Younger sister Holly successfully defended her title in the 90 kg class with a 55 kg snatch and a 68 kg jerk for a 123 kg total. Jamie Kemp won the 94 kg class with a 45 kg snatch and a 58 kg jerk for a 103 kg total. Aimee Robertson came 2nd in the 58 kg class with a 36 kg snatch and a 41 kg jerk for a 77 kg total. There was further good news for the club on Saturday when it was announced that Rowan and Holly have been selected to compete for Scotland in the Celtic Nations in Dublin next month where Scotland will be trying to win this competition for the third consecutive year.
