A huge THANK YOU to all the lovely people who got involved in today’s WWF ‘Save the Koalas’ bake sale. We were thrilled to raise an amazing £181.82 in total and the children had a wonderful time baking, cake-tasting and celebrating in support of Australia 🇦🇺

We have rearranged for 📚 WORLD BOOK DAY 📚 celebrations to take place on Thursday 15th March. Everyone who wishes to join in should bring a special story along to Nursery and can dress up as one of their favourite characters. We have plenty of fun activities planned and look forward to finding out about everyone's best books!

* MONDAY 5th MARCH* Now that the weather seems to have settled down, we can confirm that we fully expect to be OPEN AS NORMAL tomorrow morning 🔓 We have made arrangements for access to be cleared this afternoon and can't wait to get out in the gardens with the children tomorrow! HUGE THANKS to all our lovely parents who have offered to help clear the Nursery- your support is so much appreciated. We hope you have a relaxing Sunday and look forward to seeing many of you in the morning :)

** IN OTHER NEWS: We can confirm that ACTUAL GRUFFALO PRINTS have been found leading throughout the gardens and towards the Wendy Houses ** A full gruffalo hunt will be carried out with the children on Monday morning but until then please keep an eye here for more weather/ gruffalo updates. **❄NURSERY CLOSURE❄**- FRIDAY 6th Huge thanks to all Parents for getting in touch this morning- you've all been a great help. Now that it is confirmed that no children plan to attend Nursery today WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE REST OF THE DAY with immediate effect. Please take care in the winter weather and we hope you all have a fantastic weekend in the snow!

***WEATHER UPDATE- FRIDAY 2nd*** We are doing our absolute best to stay open today but have arrived to find that both access roads to the Nursery (Pitreavie Court & Pitreavie Drive) have not been ploughed since the first snowfall and are entirely inaccessible by car (with up to 3ft of ❄) As we are working on a skeleton staff team and may have to limit today's attendances. We would greatly appreciate if ALL PARENTS COULD PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE HERE OR CALL THE NURSERY TO CONFIRM WHETHER THEY WOULD PLAN TO BE STAYING AT HOME TODAY. Thank you!

***WEATHER UPDATE*** We've been keeping a close eye on the weather this afternoon but are still getting mixed reports about how the road conditions may develop overnight. We are very hopeful that we will be able to open as normal tomorrow but ask that all Parents PLEASE CHECK OUR FACEBOOK PAGE BEFORE HEADING TO NURSERY. We will review the conditions at 7am and post an update here. We have attempted to contact all Parents but would greatly appreciate if you could spread the word incase we've missed anyone. We hope you are all keeping cosy and can't wait to hear the children's exciting snow stories once we're all back at Nursery ⛄

***NURSERY CLOSURE*** Due to the severity of weather warnings issued we have decided that the Nursery will not be open today. We will keep a close eye on the forecast throughout the day but hope to reopen as normal tomorrow if safe to do so. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope that you all manage to have some fun in the snow ❄

BIG THANKS to MRS FERGUSON (Freya's fantastic Mum)- who visited Nursery this week to give the children a wonderful PARENT TALK on her job as a Planning Officer. Mrs Ferguson showed the children a colour coded planning map of Dunfermline and spoke to them about designing houses and working on construction sites. The children were extremely excited to make their very own plans before using the stamps to approve and date their brilliant designs! If any other Parents or Friends of the Nursery would be interested in coming in to give a talk on your job, culture, hobbies or interests then please let us know and we'll be thrilled to arrange this.

News from the Bears & Badgers... This week the children decided to spruce up their outdoor classroom by writing new signs and decorating some lovely nature art to display. Some of the children really enjoyed a trip to the woods, where they discovered a fallen tree. The children talked about why trees fall and learnt about 'nurse logs' and how they help other animals to live. We also had a library trip this week, bringing plenty of great new books back to Nursery. The boys an...d girls have been very interested in witches this week. They made wands from cut up branches, used their tripod cauldron to mix potions and made up some new words to use in some interesting spells! After inspecting a very large bumblebee (which Miss Alana had brought through in a vase) the children were very keen to learn more about bees by reading a 'You wouldn't want to live without bees' book and they collected hollow stems to make a bee house for their garden. The boys and girls have also been talking about nutrition and have discussed different food groups- learning about how each group helps our bodies and which group our favourite foods belong to. Aside from that, the children have started setting up their 'Tesco' topic area , have continued to make more complicated water channels in their garden and have been working hard on their pencil control with different shapes and patterns.

News from the Bunnies... This week the Bunnies have been busy creating some colourful art for their new displays (including welly-boots, umbrellas and finger-painted butterflies). The children have had a great time taking pretend train trips to London, the museum, the shops and their houses and they made train tickets to use for their journeys. With plenty of flowers and buds sprouting up in their garden, they have been talking about different types of weather and the signs o...f Spring. Outdoors have also really enjoyed building houses with cardboard boxes, making patio chalk drawings, playing hide-and-seek and practicing their jumping and skipping. The boys and girls have spent lots of time building bridges and castles with their construction blocks too. The Bunnies seem to be having a second wave of 'Frozen' interest this week and have been acting out their favourite characters and singing and dancing enthusiastically to their 'Frozen' CD. They have really enjoyed plenty of messy play with gluck, shaving foam, baking and edible playdough (made with corn flour and natural yoghurt!) as well. Their favourite song has been 'Bobbing along on my Big Red Tractor' and their favourite story has been 'Chocolate Mousse for Greedy Goose'.

News from the Babies & Baby Bunnies... Recently the babies have been getting involved in lots of energetic play with parachute and balloon games, as well as plenty of dance and action activities along to their 'Moana' music. With a few lovely sunny days they have become very interested in their shadows and have enjoyed exploring different shapes and movements in the light and shade. Outside they have spent plenty of time playing with the big boys and girls over the fence- wit...h the Bears & Badgers kindly passing them lots of new toys to try out. The children have continued to love playing with their puppets this week as well and have been pretending to feed them and put them to bed! They have been doing some sensory play with beans, pasta and pom-poms and have also been creating some brilliant art on their chalk and paint easels. The babies have also really enjoyed setting up their Dolls House, chasing bubbles and making beautiful Spring butterfly and flower pictures. Their favourite book this week has been 'The Disgusting Sandwich'.

Special thanks go out to the lovely parents, children, grandparents and staff who contributed delicious treats from home and 'Well Done' to Miss Gayle (Charity Coordinator) for organising such a successful fundraiser! News from the Bunnies... This week the Bunnies have been working on some Spring flower and butterfly art, as well as a beautiful 'stained glass window' display for their Playroom using crepe paper, cling film and glue! Outdoors they have spent a great deal of their week playing tennis, splashing in puddles, practicing throwing/ catching and trying out their new windmill. They have also really enjoyed chalk drawing, foam play, puzzles and ring games in their sunny garden as we...ll. To celebrate St. David's Day the children made model dafodills using yellow and orange playdough and they have also been working on shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day. The boys & girls have really enjoyed reading their 'Thomas & Friends' stories lately and have been very excited to learn some new Thomas songs too! Apart from that, the children have spent a lot of time pretending to speak to Mum & Dad on the phone; reading eachother stories; dressing up and setting up their Dolls House.

News from the Babies & Baby Bunnies... The Babies have carried on with their colours topic this week by making some lovely multicoloured collage and paint pictures for their Topic Board. They have also been getting into the swing of Spring with some lovely flower crafts and cress planting. In their garden they have spent lots of time practicing kicking footballs to eachother and trying to score goals, as well as taking a trip to the Bunnies' big sandpit to build sand castles.... The girls & boys were very keen to try out Miss Alana's (extremely messy!) moon foam and have also been working on some little surprises for Mother's Day with Miss Lisa. In their Playroom, they have loved playing with their puppets this week and have been doing little puppet shows in their den! Aside from that, they have also especially enjoyed reading their Peppa stories, doing 'light and sound' dancing and playing with their shape connecting stars. Their favourite song of the week has been 'Little Bunny Foo Foo'.

News from the Bears & Badgers... The boys and girls have been very busy getting ready for Spring by planting lots of seeds, bulbs and beans, as well as pruning, weeding and clearing their garden planters. With the lighter days the children have been spending even more time enjoying the outdoors and have been toasting marshmallows on their campfire, making 'ocean potions' in their rainy Mud Kitchen and taking trips to the woods. In their garden the children have spent a great ...deal of time developing different courses & mechanisms with their construction pipes (experimenting with different gradients and measurements). The children have decided to make their Topic Area into a 'Paw Patrol lookout tower' and have been very engaged in leaning more about their favourite characters. They have been researching different dog breeds online, practicing writing the dog's names, sharing stories about their pets from home and have been discussing the different real-life roles of the characters (policeman, builder, life guard, etc.) The children have also really enjoyed practicing their writing and have spent a great deal of time making lists, filling in diaries, writing letters and drawing detailed building plans.

News from the Bunnies... The Bunnies have also been making the most of the variety of weather conditions recently and have been making prints in the snow, learning about shadows in the sun and finding lots of big puddles to splash in on rainy days. They also made kites, which they took out to our big field to fly in the wind. Outdoors they have loved playing exciting games of 'hide-and-seek' and have had lots of giggles jumping out to surprise their friends and ladies. They h...ave really enjoyed making different patterns and shapes in their sandpit too. The children are continuing to develop their small world play- working together to set up areas and act out the different characters. The Bunnies have also started their Spring activities and have been making some lovely floral pictures and Spring lambs. The children have been very interested in their 'Colours' topic and have been talking about different objects which match familiar colours. They will continue to explore this next week.
