Popped in by chance , waitress Kirsty was very helpful and service was first class , food was great , nice atmosphere within the restaurant with its modern look and surroundings

Had a lovely meal with friends here on Wednesday night. Despite being midweek it was quite busy. Food was delicious, particularly the coconut ice cream. Only reason I'm giving a 4 not a 5 is that service was a bit slow, we asked for a jug of water and it was room temp so had clearly been sitting out for a while and they brought 3 of our drinks and we had to remind them about the 4th.

Would definitely recommend the food, well worth the wait and the website offers loads of deals to get money off so good value too.

Myself and my friends visited this restaurant last night. It was my friends birthday and we were having our yearly catch up. We were disappointed as ALL the starters were burnt. We didn't want replacements, but just wanted to bring it to the managers attention. We were offered a free round of drinks, but had already ordered a bottle of wine and a few drinks so didn't need anymore. The rest of the meal was pleasant, but we were disappointed that on paying, our drinks we're not removed from the bill and the manager never once came over to apologise himself, even though we passed him on exiting the restaurant. Very disappointed, and sad to say I won't be returning to this restaurant.

Lovely restaurant arrived on time and our table was ready. Disappointed that we waiting 25 mins for our starters when the restaurant wasn’t that busy. It was my husbands birthday and his pizza was burnt. He ordered his favourite and he wasn’t happy. Mentioned it and the lady just looked at the pizza and cleared the table. When it came to dessert they ran out of 2 options therefore had to pick something else. We love pizza express but after this my husband will not return.

I have always loved Pizza Express, but there are excellent restaurants and poor restaurants. Having read the previous comments I would say that Gretna is somewhere in between - they appear to have listened and acted upon the previous reviews, as the food was hot and cooked really very nicely (we had dough balls for starters and two pizzas). We did have a very long wait between our starter and main course, which was a bit much when the restaurant was virtually empty.

The restaurant as a whole lacks atmosphere, unlike a lot of the earlier Pizza Expresses, there isn’t a theme (strange considering the history and location) and we found that the tables are crammed in so you are cheek by jowl to other people eating, which when it’s busy, as it was when we first went in, wasn’t very pleasant. Hence only 3 stars.

Food was really nice, shame it took nearly 2 hours for 2 starters and 3 main course, 1 main was served 20 mins after the other 2. The tall dark haired waitress who sorted it was really lovely and couldn’t apologies enough for the mistake. A real credit to the company with excellent customer skills. If it hadn’t of been for her I’d have given negative feed back.

1.5 hours to get dough ball starters and pizza, pizza was cold when it arrived. Had to ask the waitress to clear the table and bring the kids desserts, they left one of the kids out and had to point this out. Nobody asked if we wanted more drinks, if our meal was ok or if we needed anything. Really, really poor

Very slow service and food was poor and very overpriced. What kind of chips do they serve? They were mush inside with breadcrumbs on outside -i would advise asking for a sample before forking out £4.50 for 8. The one pizza my daughter and i had between us was like eating a crisp for a base and had very little topping which i think had beed thrown on from the other side of the room. Would i go back - NO NO NO - stay clear.

Terrible service and food not much better...have been given some vouchers from their head office after emailing my complaints....used them in Edinburgh and it was 5 stars....Gretna branch needs to pull their socks up, just because you have a captive market at the outlet village doesn’t mean you don’t bother with good food or service

So we had a wonderful weekend in troon for my mums 60th birthday. Heading home to Dumfries we thought why not head to Gretna for pizza as we had heard such great things.....oh how i wish we hadnt bothered adding the extra 40 miles on.....it was awful!

10 minutes in we still hadnt been spoken too....we called a waitress over..asked for colouring things for the kids.....10 mintues later still no drinks orders.....eventually our order was taken....starter arrived but no cutlery. We dared call over one of the 5 waiting staff stood in the corner who without even speaking slowly wandered off....when asked if everything was ok with our main meal my mum politely pointed out the complete lack of cheese on her margarita....sorry was all she got! We were then charged £8.20 for polenta fries that we didnt oder and nearly £3 for each drink. £75 lighter we left with another shoddy apology from the manger.

Your customer service is shocking. Your waiting staff looked like they wanted to be anywhere else and my 6 year old was completely ignored when trying to watch the "pizza chef" ...your coffee area was a complete disgrace to be viewd by customers going to the toliets where there was no toliet roll.

Terrible end to a wonderful weekend and spoiled my mums 60th birthday. We wont be back!

Over priced, poor quality, small portions and dirty glasses. Would not recommend

If I could give this place zero stars I would, the customer service is atrocious. Took the staff members nearly an hour to ask what we wanted to drink. Then another half an hour to bring our food. Starters and mains were brought to us at the same time. Would never return and definitely wouldn't recommend.

I called here for lunch yesterday.

I found it was overpriced for what we got. £4.30 for a bottle of water, really? Mixed salad £4.40, the tomato content didn’t amount to one tomato! 3-4 slices of cucumber and a handful of rocket.The pizzas were mediocre. I’ll stick to Domino thank you. I definitely won’t be back. FAR too expensive for poor quality food.

On the plus side the service was fine and the staff were pleasant and friendly.

Hi there, went to pizza express today for a quick bite today before getting back in the car to continue our journey home to Ayrshire from Yorkshire.

Must say we regretted this decision!!!

We arrived about 5 to one this afternoon, the restaurant was not busy, plenty of empty seats and staffing to customer ratio seemed acceptable.

However, after being shown to our table, it was 20 mins before anyone took our order of a kids pizza and a full sized one and it was a further 30 mins before our order arrived. our little boy was left distressed that his food was not arriving as quickly as we had hoped.

We noticed the big pizza was sitting out while the staff chatted while the kids pizza was cooking. The kids pizza arrived roasting warm but our pizza was lukewarm.

Due to the length time we waited for food to be served to us (50 mins) I would not consider coming back to this branch when we stop off here in the future after any more road trips to South.

Absolutely furious. Stopped at Gretna outlet village on way up from my uncles funeral with my mum last Wednesday. Had a quick lunch at Pizza express. My, 80year old mother paid using her debit card. She checked the receipts yesterday and without asking they had added on 20% (£5.10) for a tip without asking!!!. What a con!! How many more people do they do that to asks my mum who is really upset by it. To add insult to injury we actually left a tip on the table. SHAME ON YOU PIZZA EXPRESS.
