Since leaving Kendricks I have had a mixed bag of associations both with the very large and with the very small of our industry contractors. I have touched main build, civil engineering, modernisation, decent home, voids, refurb and specialist improvement. I have also touched many specialisms including “BIG” electrics, bridge and canal repairs, Scaffolding, UPVC Cladding, Flooring, Compliance (equality), Cleanliness and I have trained as an Access Auditor.
All of which gives me a very rounded appreciation of the work of many within our industry, but strangely, one discipline shines high above everything else when it comes to my time with the SME’s and that believe it or not is “Health and Safety”.
Every one of the companies I have worked with over the last 5 years have struggled to come to terms with the demands of health and safety admin and paperwork, being far more concerned with getting on site, getting the job done and eaking out a crust during these difficult times.
