Pleyel Quartet Description

SCOTLAND'S MOST VERSATILE STRING QUARTET!

Well, of course, we can play a wide range of classical, pop, film, jazz and Scottish music - and arrange your favourite music for you as well.

But as well as that, one of our members is also a renowned Scottish fiddler (with 6 CDs in his catalogue); one of our members is also well known as a singer of Burns songs and jazz standards (appearing on over 20 CDs). Both of them can write a new tune especially for you.

We can put together a programme of your favourite classics, a programme of Scottish music - or one that's completely different from anything any other quartet can do.

We have performed at Balbirnie House, the Oran Mor, the Balmoral, the New Lanark Mill Hotel, Cameron House Hotel, the Marriott Hotel (Glasgow), Cornhill House, Hotel du Vin (One Devonshire Gardens), Mar Hall, the Barony Hall, St Athernase Church, the Dalziel Park Hotel, the Western Park Hotel and Glamis Castle.

It is also possible to hire a solo musician (or a duo) depending on the venue, type of event and budget.

That’s what makes us Scotland’s most versatile string quartet!

If you'd like to contact the quartet to discuss availability, pricing or repertoire, please email Sonia at info@pleyelquartet.com

This weekend saw the Pleyels head to Newcastle to play for Esther and Ehsanul's wedding ceremony and reception in the grand The County Hotel.
Esther had picked the 'Canon' as her processional, 'Clair De Lune' as she signed the register with Ehsanul, and the joyful 'Wedding March' by Mendelssohn as their recessional as they walked back down the aisle together.
After the ceremony we entertained the guests with some Rat Pack, some Beatles, some arrangements of film scores (incl...uding some of the music from 'Star Wars') and we finished with '500 miles' by the Proclaimers.
What a fantastic day! ❤

This weekend we were incredibly honoured to play for Lois and Howard's wedding ceremony and reception at their family home in Aberdeenshire. And what a beautiful day it was!
We played 'I Can't Help Faling in Love' as the bridesmaids walked down the aisle, and then 'All You Need is Love' as Lois walked down the aisle.
For their signing Lois and Howard had chosen 'Loch Lomond' and the 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours'. And we played them both back down the aisle to the wa...ltz from 'Sleeping Beauty'.
We then entertained everyone with some special requests from Lois and Howard's young children: some themes from 'Star Wars', the 'Mexican Hat Dance', 'The Bare Necessities' from 'The Jungle Book', 'That's Amore', and Offenbach's 'Can Can', all mixed in with some light classical pieces ❤

Wasn't yesterday a gorgeous day for a wedding here in Scotland!
We were absolutely delighted to be playing for Graeme and Lola's wedding ceremony and reception at the wonderful Bothwell Bridge Hotel.
We played Mozart's 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' as the guests gathered in the ceremony room.
... Lola walked down the aisle to Pachelbel's 'Canon'. For their signing, Lola and Graeme had picked 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' and then we played them back down the ailse with some Barry White...some great choices!
It was such a beautiful day that we had already deicded to play outside for the reception and as Graeme and Lola were having their pictures taken. We played a mixture of pop and easy listening, with a few jazzier numbers thrown in as well.
We absolutely loved playing for Lola, Graeme and all their glamorous guests ❤

What an absolutely beautiful day for a wedding!
Pleyel violinists Sonia and Helen made the six hour round trip from Glasgow to Achahoish to play for Kevin and Hilary's vow renewal.
Achahoish is a tiny, tiny village of just a couple of houses in a remote part of Argyll, but it also has the most picturesque little eighteenth-century church.
... We played some of our favourite Scottish music as the guests made their way into the church, and then a duet version of Pachelbel's 'Canon' for Hilary to walk down the aisle to.
There was no signing, as this was a vow renewal. So we played Kevin and Hilary back down the aisle to 'Loch Lomond', and their guests all followed them out into the lovely sunshine.
It was such a beautiful day that we stopped for a cheeky ice-cream on the way back. Did I mention how much we love our work? 🎻 🎻

How beautiful were the flowers from the wedding that we played at yesterday?!
We were incredibly honoured to play for Christine and Steve's wedding ceremony and reception and absolutely loved their choice of music!
We played 'Here Comes The Sun' for Christine to walk down the aisle to, then 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as they signed the register together, and a little Oasis ('Wonderwall') as they walked back down the aisle together.
... We then entertained their guests with a mixture of some more Beatles, some Rat Pack and some Madness. Congratulations Christine and Steve! ❤

We're absolutely delighted to be playing for wedding ceremonies and receptions again after taking a short break!
This weekend saw us playing at the most beautiful ceremony at Seton Collegiate Church, in Longniddry. How stunningly beautiful is this church!
Jessica and Danny had an elegant and relaxed, music-filled interfaith ceremony that celebrated their British and Swedish origins.
... We played Jessica down the aisle to Pachelbel's 'Canon'. Then played an arrangement of 'I Can't Help Falling In Love With You' as they signed the register, and 'Fields of Gold' for them to walk back down the aisle to as husband and wife.
Congratulations Jessica and Danny ❤

We absolutely loved the music that Julie and Stephen picked for their wedding ceremony and reception, at the gorgeous Roman Camp Hotel!
The ceremony was a wonderful mix of religious, classical, Scottish and contemporary music. We played everything from Bach and Handel, to Elgar, some arrangements of well-known folk tunes, and a little pop too.
How fantastic is 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours' at the end of a ceremony, as a couple are walking back down the aisle together?!

We were so happy to be back at beautiful Wedderburn Castle at the end of last week!
We sat in the portico of the Castle, and entertained the guests as photographer Derek Christie was hard at work.
We played a mix of pop, easy listening and film music: some Beatles; an Andy Williams number; some film music, including some of the themes from 'Star Wars'; some classic Hollywood melodies and jazz numbers; and we finished just before the guests were piped in for dinner with a Pr...oclaimers cover.
One of the best parts of the day for us? The bride and groom had no idea we were going to be there, and it was a total surprise!
'Just wanted to say thanks again for being part of Paula and Chris's wedding on Thursday, it was wonderful. They loved the 'surprise' and I believe Paula's face when she saw you was a picture!!! Lots of lovely comments from the guests about the music played so please pass on my thanks to everybody in the quartet. Thanks to you personally for all your help in making this a surprise for them. Hopefully our paths will cross again at some point in the future.

We absolutely loved playing for Joann and Mark's wedding ceremony and reception at the Carnbooth House Hotel!
We welcomed all the guests with some light classical music as they made their way into the marquee. Joann walked down the aisle to 'Gift of a Thistle' from 'Braveheart' (which sounded really beautiful arranged for string quartet).
We played 'Kissing You' from 'Romeo and Juliet' as Joann and Mark signed the register, and then the main theme from 'Star Wars' as they wa...lked back down the aisle together.
After the ceremony, we moved through to the brasserie, and played a mix of pop and classic Hollywood film music to entertain the guests as Joann and Mark were busy with their photographer ❤

We absolutely loved playing at this weekend's very joyful and relaxed wedding!
We welcomed all the guests with music as they gathered for the ceremony.
Then Claire and Kimberley both walked down the aisle separately to Pachelbel's 'Canon'. They signed the register to 'Fields of Gold', and they walked back down the aisle to The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony'.
... We then moved to one of the other beautiful rooms at Archerfield House , and entertained the guests with a mix of pop, easy listening and film music as Kimberley and Claire were busy with their photographer.
We had so much fun, and loved the music that Kimberley and Claire had chosen for their big day!

We've just received *the most beautiful* thank you from a bride and groom we played for:
'Thank you for your beautiful music that you played at our wedding last July at Floors Castle. The quartet completed the experience by filling the room with ethereal notes. Thank you so much for providing the perfect sound to the most important day in our lives. All the best. Su & Ernest'.
This has made us so happy! ❤

Today saw Pleyel violinist Sonia head to the Holiday Inn Glasgow - East Kilbride to play for a wedding ceremony.
Michael had booked a solo violin just last week, to play as a surprise for his bride Paula!
He had requested a special arrangement of one of Paula's favourite songs ('Amie' by Damien Rice) as her processional. It was an absolutely beautiful piece to play on the violin, very melodic and lyrical...a perfect choice!
... Sonia played a set of melodies by Burns as Michael and Paula signed the register and the photographer took some pictures. And then a set of lively marches as the newly weds walked back down the aisle together, and the guests followed them.
It was a lovely, intimate ceremony, and a soloist was a great choice for the size of the room and the acoustics, as well as the number of guests ❤

Woke up to find an email from a bride and groom we played for last summer, thanking us for 'such a wonderful and sincere performance'.

Just lovely ❤
'Thank you so very much for playing so beautifully at our wedding at Roman Camp back in July. The service was our favourite part of the day and the music was a huge part of that. We were delighted with the way you played three of our favourite songs and it was so good of you to learn them all [...]
From the moment we made contact you were so friendly and helpful which was greatly appreciated. We are so sorry that we didn't get to speak to you ourselves on the d...ay - it was so a whirlwind and we were literally swept off our feet!
Hoping this finds you all well and that you had a great wedding season, and we hope to hear you play again one day!
With enormous thanks and very best wishes,
Caroline and Jamie xx'.

The Prestonfield House Hotel...oh my goodness, what an absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding!
We were incredibly honoured to play for Biju and Gosia's very intimate and emotional wedding ceremony last week.
The bride and groom requested a mixture of classical and contemporary pieces to welcome their guests as they arrived, and which set the tone perfectly for the rest of the ceremony.
... The flower girl and bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Mendelssohn's 'Wedding March', and the bride herself walked down the aisle to the 'Ashokan Farewell' - both beautiful pieces and a lovely contrast to each other.
Biju and Gosia signed the register to and arrangement of 'The Swan', and they walked back down the aisle together to Bruno Mars, 'Marry You'.
An absolutely beautiful choice of music, and one which we really loved playing for them! x
