Political Communication At The University Of Glasgow

About Political Communication At The University Of Glasgow

Our programme seeks to understand flows of information both on and offline and their political consequences across a diversity of structures and systems.

Political Communication At The University Of Glasgow Description

Our programme in Political Communication covers substantial terrain: we explore areas related to news production and gatekeeping, social media messages, digital technologies, campaigns, and more. We examine the effects of such content on individual political attitudes and behaviours, on political parties and their decisions, on election outcomes, and on public policy---applying frameworks such as agenda setting, framing, priming, and beyond that are derived from a rich theoretical and empirical literature. Our discipline gains from perspectives from political science and communications, of course, but also psychology, computing science and big data analytics, sociology, economics, and others. Together our field and this programme seek to better understand flows of information and their political consequences both domestically and internationally, across a diversity of platforms, structures, and systems.
