Well done to all our runners and volunteers this morning! Weather was miserable, but spirits were high. Special mention to the marshal (you know who you are!) who cheered on the last runners by giving a rendition (including dance moves) of "Singing in the rain." 😀

We are still in need of at least 3 more volunteers this Saturday. If you can help, please email pollokhelpers@parkrun.com. Thank you.

In conjunction with the Foodbank, a sunny day was had by all to celebrate 500 runs in this beautiful park. The event was a joy to photograph (Reuben Thomas Millward)

Important - the road from Dumbreck into the park is closed at Pollok House and to access the Burrell car park you need to use the Pollokshaws Road entrance. Please share this information

500th Event Saturday 22nd September - Hope you are going to join us for cake and stuff at our 500th Outdoor party on Saturday coming at Pollok parkrun. Don't forget to bring your donation of tinned or packet food for the Glasgow SE Foodbank- collection point at the bottom of the Burrell car park - and maybe some goodies and a flask of something hot to drink for the party. Party location at the elephant adjacent to play park. Lots of photographs will be taken so please wear your parkrun Tshirt and look out for the photos on our Facebook page and website. It is going to be busy so you might want to park outside and run in. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Huge thanks to all at Kier at the Burrell gallery site who got in early with this magnificent donation of cans and packets of food -in response to our appeal for donations for the Glasgow SE foodbank - all part of our celebration of our 500th Event on 22nd September- absolutely brilliant! Stuart Lindsay the site agent presented their donation to Liz Corbett of Pollok parkrun yesterday as the site office will be on holiday next week. Thank you so much - it is very much appreciated.

User

We still need a couple of marshals for tomorrow if anyone is able - the new course needs a couple more unfortunately (more corners!). Email pollokhelpers@parkrun.com if you can help.

All donations gratefully accepted especially tins of meat, fish, rice, fruit and vegetables. cereal, tea coffee and pasta.Let us make it a mountain of food!

User

Please note that for the moment due to the construction works we will continue to assemble at the Finish and lead the runners to the new Start after the pre run briefing. The course will be the same as before except for the different start and using the upper glade path. The course is a bit shorter than last Saturday as we have now had the course measured by a certificated course measurer and the start will be adjusted accordingly.

User

500th Pollok parkrun 22nd September- time to celebrate- we are obviously having a party after the run AND we are going to make donations to the Glasgow South East food bank. So think tins of meat, vegetables, fish and fruit and packets of pasta and jars of pasta sauce. Start stockpiling now and bring to parkrun on 22ndSeptember

This was my first time at any park run. As an infrequent and recent "runner" I managed much better than I thought I would. My music gives me a fast track then a slow track and so on so was able to ease in. Some little hilly bits tricky but I'll be back to beat them! See you next week.

User

The park is ideal suited for an challenging run with hills in all the right places, very little repeat terrain with two laps of concentric circles. Very good atmosphere with 300-500 participants weekly.

User

Really enjoyable and hugely friendly parkrun!

User

Pollok park run is a fantastic event, Very well organized and absolutely free for everyone.. Tough 5k that can really push you if your looking for a challenge.. Amazing

User

Pollock park run is always a great experience. It well organised and there are always marshalls cheering you on, especially when you need a wee boost. It's not the easiest of 5k but it's always a great challage for a Saturday morning. Keep up the great work.

User

It was my first run yesterday really enjoyed it and the marshals were very helpful...I'll be back next week trying for a better time!!..x

User

It was fun ad we enjoyed it with grandchildren lovely atmosphere

User

I think this may be the best parkrun in the UK! We love it!

User

I look forward to this every week. I only started April 2016 with a time of 34 mins. Each week I have been encouraged by those around me & got my time down to 25.21 this week - but you only compete with yourself!! Everyone is so friendly. I tried running on my own, but got disinterested & bored. The other 400+ people keep me going week in week out.

User

I enjoyed, was a challenge to run trying to deal with the cold and all the hills. But was nice :)

User

Hi there I really enjoyed my visit to pollock parkrun this morning well originised by the volunteers and marshals. Keep up the good work and I would come back again. I usually run at Strathclyde parkrun every Saturday. A very good route for your 5k run as well.

User

Great day for run today. My pb thanks to lady advised me to tie laces! Could’ve been much worse.

User

Forgot how difficult it can be as not done it for a few yrs, but enjoyed it at the end lol !!

User

First run today completed, underestimated how difficult it would be with the hills, but thoroughly enjoyed, atmosphere kept me going

User

Brilliant day for my 1st park run. Sun was out and a great day for it. Volunteers do an excellent job and will defo come back anytime I can

User

Best start to a Saturday, money can't buy!....did my 3rd on Sat in 31 minute's, at 55, and a new start I'm chuffed to bits

User

Always a great event, very well organised and always a great turn out. The course is far from a PB smasher with the hills and hairpins but the benefit you get with the hill training pays off when you run a flat course - like Strathclyde or Greenock.

User

A fantastic run with a great atmosphere. The course is quite challenging but there's lots of lovely people cheering you on.

User

I like it
