Great to see Ed taking part in Sheriffs ride 6 years ago he almost died from atypical myositis (sycamore poisoning) which is frequently fatal. He was unable to stand for over a week and required intensive care at Pool House Equine Clinic. Amazing to see him looking so well!!!

Extra Poor-performance Clinic. Over the last few months Gil's Poor-performance clinics have been full to overflowing with the hard ground causing problems. We have been very fortunate in being able to get ELLEN SINGER (formerly of Liverpool University) to agree to run some extra clinics at Pool House during September most Thursdays and Fridays. Ellen’s main clinical interest and expertise relates to lameness diagnosis and orthopaedic surgery. She is a big fan of Three Day E...venting and National Hunt Racing, working at numerous competitions each year, including the Grand National. Ellen loves nothing more than figuring out why horses are lame and providing a practical and hopefully, successful solution for the horse’s owners. In her spare time, Ellen enjoys riding her own event horse, running, cycling, and other outdoor activities.
Ellen graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, after which she spent three years in general equine practice in the Northeast United States before completing a Surgical Residency and Doctor of Veterinary Science Degree at the Ontario Veterinary College. After working at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine in Israel, Ellen joined the University of Liverpool in 1995 where she was employed as a Senior Lecturer and a key member of the Orthopaedics and Surgery team for 22 years. Ellen is a European, American and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Surgery. Ellen has spent time on BEVA Council, as a member of the ECVS Board of Regents and currently serves as a committee member for the Association of Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons. Ellen regularly contributes to continuing education courses.

We had a great message yesterday about one of our former patients Flo:-
Hi Team Pool House
My horse Flo came into you last year on 20 November for emergency colic surgery which has been a great success.
... Yesterday Flo went to her first dressage competition since her operation, despite the heavy rain, wind and two spooks at a scary flag she managed a respectable 67.72% to bag 5th place at Ashwood Equestrian. I'm over the moon!
The whole team at Pool House did an amazing job with Flo and I wanted to share with you Flo's success.
Thank you again for all you guys do!

Success for Dani and Dakota!
12 year old Dakota's eventing career looked in jeopardy last year when, with the help of MRI, we diagnosed his sudden acute lameness as being due to a tear to one of the tendons inside his right fore foot. His owner and rider, popular local instructor Dani Cuomo, was determined to put in all the hard work to get Dakota back sound and competing and this weekend, 14 months after his injury, he was at the open novice at Llanymynech horse trials. And he only went and won!!!
Huge congratulations to Dakota and Dani on their success, a reward for a lot of effort and even more patience! Everyone at Pool House is delighted for you both!

Tigger was referred to Pool House for a tooth extraction and sinus check. I received constant feedback after each procedure from Sam who was able to put what he had done/was going to do in layman's terms. This was tiggers second tooth extraction so unfortunately was not covered by his insurance, fortunately however it was within what I was quoted from the off. When I came to pick Tigs up Sam came out of a meeting to speak to me, which was nice to meet who had attended to my boy. I would have no hesitation in recommending Pool House. Tigger is now enjoying being back at home resting up, looking forward to bringing him back into work.

This is the end of my third time working at PH! This veterinary practice has been a massive part of my life!

I am so grateful I have been allowed these chances to work at this practice!

This practice has in my opinion always cared about the animals they treat above every other thing!

I was lucky enough to already know the partners of this practice before returning to work! They still hold my respect and gratitude! However the people I didn’t know and have been privileged to work with have made my time here exceptional!

To all PH horse owners- I have never seen such diligence and care from a group of people in 20 years!

Thank you all do much for an amazing time!

User

Thankyou to all the team at Pool House! You were all amazing and made us feel very welcome, especially Amy for sorting out our appointment so quickly and Pete for sorting out Maisie’s teeth.

User

Thank you to everyone at Pool House for your continued help, support, care and outstanding veterinary treatment over the last 20 years. Our boy is at peace now and we are truly heartbroken but so glad he was treated with respect and dignity right up until the end. He had a tough few years latterly and came in for two major operations. Both were successful, despite the odds, and he was treated so well by the yard staff that he didn’t want to come home! He genuinely loved his visits and we couldn’t fault any of the treatment he was given.

Unfortunately he couldn’t win his last battle but between Renske and Oliver the end was as easy for him as we could have wished for.

We appreciate everything that everyone has done for him (and us) over the years.

Thank you xxx

Pool House have been looking after my horses for 3 decades now. From my little riding school ponies to my private competition horses, I can't speak highly enough of their care and expertise.

I feel incredibly lucky to have such a top class facility on our doorstep. The practice has gone from strength to strength.

User

Our pony was referred to Pool House for stifle surgery. The staff are amazing and loved that every day they phoned to say she had had a good night. The day of surgery they phoned serval times with updates which helped us has we weren't close by. Again all the staff were brilliant, we can't thank you enough. Roise is now home and recovering well.

Thank you again.

User

My pony went to Pool House for X-rays and stifle surgery, I was put right at ease and everything was fully explained by the lovely staff. They did the surgery straight after the X-rays which meant Tetley could get back home the next day to start his recovery. All the staff, from the surgeons to the yard staff were lovely. Despite Tetley being a very nervous pony he had a stress free stay! I would recommend Pool House to any one to take care of their equines

User

My pony Bonnie was admitted to Pool House last Friday, by Pete Burton, after having scanned a rather large localised swelling on her hock. Bonnie underwent hock surgery on the Friday night where they found a foreign body and an abscess and stayed with you until yesterday and I am pleased to say she is now carrying on her recovery at home. From me and Bonnie we are eternally greatful to Pete, Jonathan, Roberto and the rest of the Vets, Yard staff and receptionists at Pool House for the work they have carried out and the after care given to Bonnie whilst she remained at pool house after her surgery. And for putting up with her grumpiness! Many thanks Trish & Bonnie Fletcher

My horse dom was referred to pool house for a tooth removed in September. Everyone who dealt with dom was fantastic I couldn’t have asked for better service and Sam who did the surgery was fantastic with keeping me up to date with everything after. I have recommended this vets to other people for future use

User

My horse Jimmychoo came here in April 2018 to have a fractured tooth removed. He had to stay for 4 nights and the staff were so amazing! They made him feel at home and he was so relaxed when I went to visit him. Sam the dentist kept me updated all the time on Jimmychoo and how he was really can not fault them! Even the staff in reception were very helpful and friendly

My horse Hazel was admitted 2 weeks ago, following a prolonged period of back issues. Pool house were exceptional in their pre and post operative care and treatment for kissing spines. In particular, it was refreshing to be kept fully informed of every step along the treatment pathway by vets and staff who were so skilful in explaining everything in an understandable way. Their patience and respect towards ourselves and Hazel is something that will leave a lasting impression. I would definitely recommend Pool house as the stand out equine clinic that I or my friends have ever experienced. Grateful thanks and appreciation for everything. Your success is well deserved.

Just want to say a big thankyou to all the wonderful staff at Pool House equine especially a big thankyou the yard hand Judie and vet Sam. Today I brought my mare for dental treatment and the care and the services here was fantastic. I have Aspergers sydrome the staff was so lovely to me and supportive. I was very anxious about leaving my mare Skye so all the staff was so kind especially Judie and welcomed us to the yard and allowed me to keep Skye company in the yard which helped anxiety a lot. Judie was very kind keeping checking on us both and bringing me hot chocolate! Sam was lovely as well, keep giving me regular updates on the progress and even let me look at the X-rays, showed me pictures of other successful treatments and images of Skye’s mouth. He explained everything so well and put me at so much ease. Skye is now home safe and sound with her herd munching hay. Big hugs to you all and thankyou so much! Love Sophie and Skye

User

I'd like to thank poolhouse for their help and continued support with Chelsea. She came to the clinic for a lameness work up, and has been back for an mri. Staff are always smiling and clearly love their job and the animals they care for. Everyone is always willing to help and answer questions. Thank you so much!

User

I cannot thank the exceptional staff at pool house. Their care and compassion my was second to non, they could noy have been in better hands. Many thanks for everything

User

Honestly couldn’t fault this place! I have 2 ponies, Patch and Henry, and they both mean the world to me, the staff have always supported me if something has happened to either of them. A couple of months Patch had to go into the practice and stay over night, at first I was generally really scared about leaving her because I was worried incase she stressed, after 20 minuets of being there, they staff loved her and she was well cared for chomping away on her hay! She had regular checkups and I was informed on the night time that she was fine, and she was having her scope in the morning and I would be updated. The next day, she was ready to come home and she was groomed and back to her normal self. I really am so grateful for everything you do for me and the ponies! A massive thank you to Gill, Peter, Oliver and all the other staff there for all the help and ensuring the ponies are safe! I highly recommend them to everyone! Again Thank you for all you do!

User

As usual a thoroughly professional service

Definitely recommend from routine vaccination/dental/minor aliments thru abnormal dental care (you would need to see Jacko to understand) lameness clinics, operations for those more serious cases and hopefully to a successful stud management for 2018

Only thing you still need is an AI collection lol

Thank you Pool House you have my vote

After having my horse of a lifetime put to sleep on Tuesday I just wanted to say the biggest Thankyou to Oliver for all his care and compassion not only on Tuesday but throughout Princes treatments and stays at the vets in 2016, and for all the chances he gave us! Thankyou Oliver, I couldn’t have asked for a better vet to take care of him x

Over the years I have sucked up the annoying practice of adding additional items to very large bills in the assumption that they will not be noticed by the client. I have paid twice for dental work as it appeared on two different bills, one at the time of treatment and one on the bill at the end of the month. I have had bills which have been 8 times the quoted amount as the customer always pays for their mistakes. I have been told I don't care about my horses if I decline to put elderly, terminally ill animals through procedures which they will not live long enough to experience any benefit from .

But never mind me, what about my horse, they claim they are dedicated to "putting your horse first". After 20 years I am moving my account as my horse became very ill following administering of a sedative by one of their interns for routine dental work. The horse has multiple allergies and has had multiple adverse drug reactions so it was requested that it be performed with NO sedative. Horse has been perfectly OK multiple times before. Intern not able to comply with this. The horse was very unsteady on leaving the practice and was still sedated and not eating properly the rest of the day. The following day, it had a high temp. raised respiration rate and bounding digital pulses in all 4 feet. Called the practice for advice but informed that ALL senior vets in a very important meeting and NONE of them would speak on the phone. Eventually receptionist contacted Peter Burton who also refused to speak directly to me but said horse should be brought in. On bringing the horse in, none of the senior vets would come out of their very important meeting to help my horse. SHAME ON YOU, but shame on me if I allow you to treat him this way again. I declined to have him admitted and took him home so he could be attended by another practice if necessary. Good luck with your expensive MRI machine and state of the art vet hospital but what do they mean if you cannot even be bothered to attend a sick horse who has been brought to your premises? My horse deserves better and to me he is much more important than your meeting. From Liz Rowe (no facebook account of my own). PS. Needless to say they have charged me hundreds of pounds to put right the damage done to my horse by their mistake.
