We went in waiting for the ferry and ate some wonderful scallops - lovely food and roaring fire. Good bunch of staff!
Great!
Just went back again in September and the staff were very accommodating..we arrived as the kitchen was closing and they rumbled up some fish and chips for us. We returned the next day for a seafood platter and it was marvelous. My friends from Italy were raving about it. Lovely place. Thanks for your kindness.
A small but scenic port. Life boat station, post office & hotel all on site. Very smooth operation loading the ferry
I have just returned home after spending the best 3 days ever at Islay. My husband and myself stayed here two nights and we found the bedrooms lovely and the food was first class. Lovely friendly staff and an absolute picture perfect view. I will definetely be returning. I loved it.
Charming hotel with friendly and attentive staff. The pub is delightful with an amazing selection of whiskies. The food here is much better than it needs to be (we had breakfast and dinner here every day of our stay). Perfect location right at the Port Askaig ferry and bus stop.
Very local atmosphere here. The best scallops in my life.. Amazing!
We visited just for dinner while wait for the ferry. Their appearance and space are not so cool but their local scallop dish is so lovely. The ingredients are so fresh and rich. And cooking was perfect. We only had just one dish but can expect the other seafood dish will be the best also.
No TV in room and definitely not dog/ animal friendly. No dogs aloud in the Hotel, but the 2 X Westies belonging to the owners can roam freely within. Can not recommend!! Food = fair, lack of internet, and Cellular Network connection.(i.e. Vodaphone)
What a lovely place to stay. Rooms are a little tired but was perfectly acceptable and clean with a good hot shower and there's a note explaining that now road changes have settled they plan to refurbish.
What makes it though is that the staff could not be more helpful and cheery, it made the stay. The landlady has a good selection and knowledge of malts (which sadly we weren't up to having walked back from the Caol Ila distillery tasting and not needing more :-), food was excellent (choice of locally caught catch) and bars cosy.
Well positioned with the garden on the harbour side and for my current favourite distillery (Caol Ila) which is a "healthy" (up out of the port and down to the village) 20 minute walk away.
Just about perfect and would love to go again.
