Such a beautiful peaceful place...took my granddaughter for the first time she loved the stoney beach!
Excellent wee castle for a visit. Loads of information about the history of the castle and area. Lovely wee spots round south side of castle to sit and relax and watch the sunset. Well worth a visit.
Well worth a visit for the spectacular views across the Clyde estuary in any weather or season - a special place
Great place to visit with the family, nice walks around the castle and you can enter the keep and learn all about its history.
The castle has been refitted to combine a medieval castle (1375) and a modern outlook. The view from the top of the castle is spectacular. It is manned by volunteers and only open during the Summer Season but absolutely worth a visit. The steps are treacherous so not ideal for the disabled. Volunteers are friendly and the information available is fascinating. You can also now find the Spanish Armada Cannon here (see my book "The Portencross Armada Conspiracy"). An absolute must visit.
A must see (with panoramic views of Arran on the top of the castle's terrace) great history! Easy to find and free parking.
Volunteers staff were great, full of banter and chatty. Thanks guys..
lovely walk up towards Hunterston!
Amazing. There was a world of exploration behind a building that looks derelict and empty. Great information about the castle thorough videos, information board and fabulous volunteers!
Lovely place for pic-nick and sea views 👍👍
Nice for a wee bit of local history but has no public toilets or place for a cuppa and sandwiches
