Prestonfield Golf Club Description
The Course sits in a spectacular location in a former deer estate at the foot of Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags and yet is less than a mile from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street and the City Centre.
There are references to the existence of Prestonfield in documents which go back to 1153. We believe that Mary Queen of Scots, herself a keen golfer, used to spend time in the garden area of the Old Mansion which adjoined the course where the 13th hole is now. That hole is known as "The Old Garden. "
James Braid laid out Prestonfield for the Civil Service Golf Society in 1920. The course has matured into a beautiful parkland course which is characterised by its challenging par 4s and its spectacular location. The names of the holes all have historical connections to the course but Braid was so impressed by what he managed to do with the land available to him for the 14 th hole that he simply called it "Dog Leg. "
The Clubhouse at Prestonfield has been completely modernised and offers full facilities including private rooms for visiting societies. The clubhouse has spectacular views over the course and down the east coast to North Berwick . Prestonfield is an ideal location for individual and corporate golf outings.
We are also currently able to offer full membership of Prestonfield on extremely attractive terms.

course is in great condition and staff always do there up most to help and please . never seen greens with so little picthmarks credit to there members for taking pride In this gem of a test ! great views in the heart of the city and very well maintained Defo worth a visit again!
Wonderful food and beautiful views! Recently had a family wedding there which was perfect
We had our Wedding Evening Reception at this venue at the beginning of Feb 2017. Big thanks to John in the lead up and organisation for us on our big day. Fabulous location, near the city centre with fantastic views. Great function room and space for dancing. Attentive bar staff with varied selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Food excellent. Would highly recommend for wedding or party celebrations. Thanks again Mr and Mrs Ackroyd
We had a fantastic night there, 2 guys singing Beatles songs. Went with our relatives who are members.
Very friendly staff , great atmosphere ideal place to hold your function staff so attentive and great food �

An amazing golf course in the centre of historical Edinburgh, what's not to like.
Absolute gem of a golf course in the heart of Edinburgh and the friendliest clubhouse ive ever been in.
A warm welcome given to all from staff and members. Outstanding design coarse, kept in great condition all year round. Add a super social clubhouse and a spectacular backdrop, what's not to like ?
Outstanding views. Tasty menu. Friendly staff.
Lovely course played at the foot of Arthur's seat. Great clubhouse and friendly staff. Greens were not so great and there was no catering, other than that well worth a visit.
A lovely light lunch with beautiful outlook close to centre of Edinburgh
Decent course but the pro should have advised that holes 9 and 13 were off. For 16 holes, it was ok. Very soft and greens very slow but the course character saved it
