This Gothenburg Pub is a wee gem and well worth a visit. Get a 26 bus from Princess Street (they are frequent and on well into the evening). The food was tasty and the prices were very acceptable. There are some beautiful Art Nouveau features and a lovely painted ceiling.

We were also very impressed by the lovely clean and well appointed loos :D

User

User

Thank you for a very nice afternoon lunch with my brother and his wife, who we seldom see. We were introduced to Shaun, the master brewer, we had a VIP tour of the Gothenburg pup and sampled the most excellent beer some of which are not available for general consumption yet, Shaun is an excellent host and passionate in his craft. Anyone who is appreciative of good real beer should pay a visit you won't be disappointed

Fabulous Sunday lunch - delicious food and great service. We'll be back!

User

Excellent staff, food, warm welcome highly recommend a visit.

User

During our first visit we were given a very warm welcome and we were delighted that our dog was also warmly greeted. I would particularly recommend the Chocolate Oak Porter which was smooth and delicious. The food was also very good, excellent haddock which came with real chips, not frozen, and the best macaroni cheese my husband had ever had. Thank you for a lovely visit.

User

Cozy and homey atmosphere with friendly staff. Food was fully and tasty. Locally brewed Kentwood beer selection was great! We really enjoyed the visit today. I also add here, this is a very child friendly place!

User

Best Christmas menu I have seen and the food was so delicious it stopped all conversation at the table as we were too busy eating! As always- staff were great with our toddler/family facilities are great making this a wonderful stress free family afternoon out-Thank you!x

We'll be back before going home.

User

Absolutely love coming here for meals. Great atmosphere, lovely bar staff and brilliant food. Nice to have it just on the door step. ✨✨✨

User

Once a month I head here to meet with friends, play music and enjoy the swalley although this month was slightly marred by the lack of your fine porter so instead i tried the IPA which was fine. Now all was going well untill someonenhad the bright idea of Happy Days [1/2 ipa and 1/2 wee heavy] now whilst this was a fine alternative I have some comments to make. 1 don't plan on going anywhere after. 2 forget the next day. 3 learn from your mistakes. and finally it should be daze not days. Cheers Goth see you next month. Harry.

Had a fantastic wee nite with my family at the Goth . We all ordered food+ I have to say every plate was scraped clean.. DELICIOUS.. Our entertainment for the evening was outstanding with the lovely "Fiona Grant-MacDonald..

Well done my love you have the most beautiful voice+it's VERY clear you had the whole pubs attention! We will definitely be back!🍺💕x

User

We booked a table for 8 adults and a baby for 6pm and arrived at 5pm for a drink. Our table was ready which was great. Bar staff were fantastic and very polite and friendly.

Our food order was taken at 6.10pm then it went downhill....35 minutes for starters to come out then a further 40mins for our mains. The fish was covered in greasy thick batter as was the chicken. The chips were good but only got about 10 of them. My dad loved the beef olives and mash (they were good)

We did complain and apologies were given but I'm afraid I won't be rushing back

User

The bar staff are always helpful and efficient. The food is normally great but given we'd booked for lunch, as had others, we weren't told it was going to be a VERY limited menu. No starters at all and l'd mentioned soup when I booked, the steak pie although well cooked was tasteless no matter how much salt/pepper we added and the peely wally pastry was cut in half for some obscure reason. Not cheap and very disappointing. Only sticking to the middle ground because of the staff. Otherwise it'd have been 1 star!

User

Well I went for dinner tonight at 6.10 pm no food being served yet it says on the board you serve until 7.30pm... kitchen staff all away home !!!! Bad advertising

User

Was out for drinks with some school friends and had a lovely night until i asked for 9 baby guiness shots and was charged £43. When i tried to explain that it shouldnt be 9 full measures of tia maria and baileys the bar staff couldnt seem to understand what i meant. Surely if they didnt know how to make them they should have told me that . Even a few of the customers standing at the bar said i was overcharged. It definately ruined my night and wont be back any time soon. Very disappointed.

User

Such a shame as this is a lovely pub steeped in history, we decided to have a few drinks before heading home on a Fri night. We entered the pub just after 9pm and the pub had one customer, the smell of disinfectant was pungent and it was very clear the two staff members were getting ready for closing. Ordered three pints after checking it was still open, after stating "at the moment" we got our drinks.

Less than an hour later we were told it was last orders!! When we attempted to order our second drink we were informed the card machine was "switched off" deciding this was the final hint we left, shame as we want to support local pubs but given the Witherspoons is a 10 min journey down the road we will be take our "cards" there
