‘The St Nicholas GC Committee minutes records a letter dated March 1956 from A.Hay, Solicitors, Prestwick, proposing to hold the Burgh of Prestwick Golf Championship in May that year. Along with St Cuthberts and Prestwick GC’s it was agreed to grant the tournament committee the courtesy of the three local courses, to reserve the tee times required and that no green fees would be payable by any entrant who was not a member of one of the three clubs.
The rest is history and eve...ry year since the ‘Prestwick Golf Links Championship’ has been held to decide the best golfer in Prestwick that year.
The competition is open to anyone normally resided in Prestwick or a member of the three Prestwick golf clubs. It is an amateur competition open to anyone with a handicap of 12 or less.
The qualifying rounds will be held on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 May over St Nicholas’s and St Cuthberts GC. The best 16 Scratch qualifiers and the best 8 Net qualifiers will then play match play over Prestwick GC until the finals on Saturday 26 May. The Nicson Trophy is awarded to the best scratch golfer and the Boyd Cup to the best handicap golfer that year.
Applications form and the competition rules are available from club secretaries Entry cost is £8 to cover prizes. Are you the best golfer in Prestwick or do you know someone who should enter . If you can’t play come along and support this historic golf event in Prestwick in particular the final days play and presentation ceremony at Prestwick Golf club on Saturday 26 May 2018.’

great club and fantastic course , amazing greens with a course that gives all levels a challenge .

User

What a great place for a round of golf. From mark in the pro shop to the girls in the lounge everyone made you feel welcome.

Members were as friendly as they come offering tips on where best to hit the ball etc.

Food in clubhouse was brilliant and served quickly and piping hot.

The course was the real treat, mix of short and long holes, all with their own challenges. Was in immaculate condition for this time of year.

Wouldn’t hesitate to join as a member or tell anyone else to give it a try.

User

Was windy but dry when we played but still in awe of the condition and character of this course. Stunning

User

Untouchable layout and service. Best course in Scotland in my list takes dundonald out on points.

User

Played yesterday evening, great conditions for this time of year. Testing conditions in the wind as always, but course in very good condition, even before the spring heat arrives, to enable some further growth on fairways and greens, which run true. Amazing sunset.

User

Played here on Tuesday nad have booked again for tomorrow. The course is in amazing condition for this time of year. We play it every year in the winter and have never had a bad thing to say about it. The scenery from the course is amazing too!

User

Played at St Nicholas on Saturday and enjoyed every hole, not one hole was the same, loads of character, greens were in excellent condition and the hole course was very challenging.

I was treated to lunch for the second time at St. Nicholas by my friend Ken Nairn, who is a member, and as was the first time...the food was really delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back, as next time I intend to treat Ken.

User

I have joined the club during the winter with the view of becoming full member next year. Brought some of my mates over & like myself they have loved it.

Great little course. The outward 9 is fairly short but tricky. Coming back gets longer and tougher. The 18th is a killer par3. Really enjoy playing this course. The clubhouse is great too with a good menu and reasonable prices.

User

Great days golf on what was a very windy and a mixture of sun and overcast conditions. A real test of your ability and patience. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would love to play again sometime.

A challenging course then factor in the weather and each round is different. The greens played well. The remodelled bunkers are a work of art.Credit to the green keepers and members in maintaining such high standards.
