It's that time of year again, drummers from across the world flood into Glasgow to compete at the World Solo Championships. Best of luck to all competitors and especially Olivia Pryde and Bronwyn Gowenlock who will be representing Pryde today!

Its that time of year again - when we "sharpen" our fingers and ready our hemp... Competition time folks!
So with the first of the seasons competition over (the Lothian and Borders indoor mini-band and Solos), a big well done goes out to our members for their efforts in both Solos and mini-band participants from the weekend.
Pryde took second and fourth places in the grade 4 mini-band competition (with a 1st and 3rd place respectively for Piping place).
... the Solo entries were hotly contested however, and though no prizes amongst the Pryde ranks - the challenges were relished by all.
We cant wait to see what the rest of the season brings now. Say hi on the field folks!

Well done to Olivia Pryde who got 5th at Craigmount High School Solo competition in the 14 and under Tenor Drumming event. A bright start and sign of great things to come for this talented player. A big thanks goes to her mentor/instructor Lauren Thomson.

With the winter upon us, we look forward to the new season. In so doing, we would like to take this opportunity to see if there is anyone out there that would like to join a new pipe band or considering restarting their piping or drumming. If you would like to know more or join us, please get in touch.

The Band took part in the Edinburgh 5k Fun Run at Holyrood Park this weekend! Congratulations go out to 2 of our band members who ran it, and the other of our members who braved the rain to marshal around the course!
In amongst that - we even managed to get a few tunes in as a mini-band!
If you would like to get involved with the band - send us a message through Facebook or via our website at www.pelpb.com

Fantastic well done to the Pipe Band for their recent prize-winning performance in Forres at the European Championships in Forres. The band came Joint 4th in points, taking away 6th place after Ensemble preference.
Keep up the good work - and thanks go to all that came on the day for their support.

What's your favourite competition of the year?

User

Well, its almost the start of another competing year!
Our pre-season has been good, the sound is coming on strong, and both pipers and drummers seem quietly confident of their task.
We have had a fantastic result at the Lothian and Borders indoor Solo's, A mini-band came 3rd, with the B band not far behind; also there was a positive start to playing up to grade 3 with 6th overall - great result considering!
... so heres to the new season... and fruitful may it be!
see you out there....
