From a new friend...
Sam Tannenbaum, going into his third year reading Music at St John’s College.
"I am contacting to ask if any of your contemporary dance students at Queens' College may be interested in getting involved in the Cambridge University Opera Society’s Michaelmas production of Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh’s ‘The Last Hotel’ in Queens Fitzpatrick Hall in late November, a modern opera written in 2015 which combines elements of theatre with opera and multimedia ...elements. One of the four roles is for a silent character who remains on stage for the majority of the show and which the plot revolves around. I would like to cast a more experienced dancer in the role as I want to really explore the character’s communication through movement and dance, which I envision as contrasting moments of deathly stillness with more unsettling and impulsive dancing.
I wonder if any dancers who are staying on next year may be interested in getting involved in a unique and completely singular musical production, and who would want to explore a fascinating silent character (one of only four characters in the entire show!) and work on developing dance and movement with workshops throughout Michaelmas term next year, please do let me know."

From our friends at Siobhan Davies Studios...
CHOREOGRAPHY FOR THE OUTDOORS Tuesdays 11 June - 16 July, 7pm-9pm £140 / £112 concessions
... How do spaces inform how choreography is made? How can choreographers animate everyday spaces? Can we change how the public interact with spaces?
https://siobhandavies.com/…/choreograph y-course-charlotte-…/
In this 6 week course choreographer, facilitator and occasional performer Charlotte Spencer will invite participants to consider the role of choreography in the outdoors and to rethink their relationships with each other and the world around them. Charlotte will use a series of practical tasks and choreographic experiences to encourage you to experiment with where performances happen and how they are encountered by an audience.
Classes will take place in both Siobhan Davies Studios and at landmarks around Southwark, providing you with a unique opportunity not only to learn more about choreography but also to connect with the urban landscape.
As artistic director of Charlotte Spencer Projects, Charlotte works across a range of art forms, predominantly in an outdoor environmental context. Her Walking Stories, an audio walk for parks has toured nationally and internationally since 2013 and Is this a Waste Land?, which invites a reimagining of urban landscapes, was part of Dance Umbrella and Dance International Glasgow in 2017.
To book please call 0207 091 9650 or email reception@siobhandavies.com

An exciting performance possibility...
Gilbert and Sullivan Society are currently looking for dancers for the Mayweek punts show, which will be Rameau's La naissance d'Osiris.
https://www.camdram.net/vacancies/auditio ns… -
... Performances take place at 13:00 and 18.00 on Fri 21st June 2019 at On Punts on the Cam (St John's) Easter May Week
Rameau's 'La naissance d'Osiris' is a one-act opera depicting Jupiter's announcement of the birth of the god Osiris to a group of Egyptian priests and shepherds.
Clocking in at just 50 minutes, this pastoral opera is full of wonderful passages for singers, dancers and actors. Its short length and spirited music makes it ideal for the busy festivities of May Week, with the opera's setting complemented by the beautiful surroundings of St John's Waterfront.
We are currently looking for dancers for the Mayweek punts show, which will be Rameau's La naissance d'Osiris.
Sounds great...go for it!
