Community Nursing: Celebrating the past, shaping the future

User

Only three weeks left with the early bird rates for our conference - "Celebrating the past: shaping the future".
Conference takes place on 3rd April at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh - secure your delegate places here: http://bit.ly/QNIStickets2019.
In 2019 we are marking 130 years of the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland. This year’s conference offers us all the opportunity to celebrate nursing pioneers – past, present and future.
... The founders of QNIS set out to address the impact of poverty on the nation’s health. The conference will reflect on the progress we are making and the challenges that remain in enabling the health and wellbeing of all Scotland’s communities.
Come and be inspired by excellent speakers, great conversations and, this year, the opportunity to attend two workshops.

We are excited to showcase a new range of jewellery, crafted by the skilful silversmiths Ortak Jewellery.
In 2019 we celebrate our 130th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Ortak, who designed and made the new Queen’s Nurse badge, offered to design a range of jewellery for us. The QNIS thistle has been recognised by communities across Scotland as a mark of nursing excellence for 130 years.
These beautiful silver items might just inspire your Christmas shopping and a pr...oportion of the cost comes to QNIS to support our work.

“Most victims of financial abuse can ill-afford the monetary loss, and this can mean insufficient money for rent, food, bills and other necessities. These losses can adversely affect physical and mental health.
“Community nurses can identify the early warning signals of financial abuse and explore what’s true with the people in their care. They may either signpost sources of help, or (if warranted) alert safeguarding teams, the police, and trading standards. Nurses are well-p...laced to help people whose wellbeing has been harmed by scamming.

We have recently published Voluntary Standards for Community Children's Nursing, alongside the QNI.
These new standards will help support Community Children’s Nurse (CCN) education and practice across the UK.
The two organisations worked together with leading experts to develop the voluntary standards, which also aim to provide young people, their carers and the public with a contemporary description of the CCN role.
