About Red Kite Community Nursery Doune

Scottish Charity No: SC047382

Red Kite Community Nursery Doune Description

Red Kite Community Nursery Doune opened in 1972 and is open 5 mornings a week to children from age 2 years 9 months to school age. Like any Council run nursery or partnership nursery our practitioners are fully qualified and registered with the SSSC. Similarly we follow the Curriculum for Excellence, and are inspected annually by the Care Commission and regularly by HMIe. Our provision is also monitored annually by Stirling Council.

We are owned and managed by the parents of the children attending and are a registered Scottish charity (No: SC016050) and a member of the Scottish Preschool Play Association (SPPA). As a group organised by parents, staff, and children, we provide a service, rooted in and meeting the needs of the local community. Your child will feel happy and secure in a safe and stimulating environment, enabling him /her to be able to develop confidence and self-esteem and a positive attitude towards others.

We are a very 'Active' nursery and are pleased to provide free Jumpin' Beans Sessions run by Active Stirling on Mondays. In addition, we have an extensive range of play equipment including climbing frame, slide, bikes etc. We also have waterproof all-in-one suits, wellies and gloves for each child so we can play and go for walks come rain or shine! We also have a fantastic, new secure garden!

We are in partnership with Stirling Council which allows us to offer free Government funded places for children the term after their third birthday. Children have attended not just from Doune but also, Buchany, Blair Drummond, Brig O'Turk, Callander, Deanston, Dunblane, Lake of Menteith, and Thornhill.

Each year we also run 'Rising 3's' which takes place on Monday afternoons from 1pm - 2: 30pm for children who are at least 2 years 5 months old. Starting Pre-School can be a huge step for some young children, having to leave their parents for longer parents than usual, that's where Rising 3's can help.

We also have a group on a Wednesdays called Bosom Buddies to support new mums and mums to be. It is a place to meet, make friends and share experiences. The group is supported by our local Health Visitor Penny Scott from Doune Health Centre.
