Hello all, Boot camps are a little slow getting filled this month. Christmas is sometimes hard to recover from, but nothing like a full day of fun, challenging and practical drumming to chase away the post party blues on these cold dark nights. Lets do the best at bringing some Guinean sun shine to our Edinburgh.

Everyone will get the chance to play all the parts for djembe and doun douns. Sure to be a fun and hard working day. Bring lunch to share. Drinks available in the centre. £30 (£15 deposit in advance please, to secure the space) - paypal deposit to stuartdinwoodie@hotmail.com Please book a space - min 5 to run it. Max 12

This beginner level is much like the intermediate; the first part of the day we work a bit on technique and sound quality then learn one of the basic standard rhythms with djembe (hand drums) and doun douns (big bass drums played with sticks). We will move on to playing signals for starting and stopping the rhythm as well as telling the dancers to change moves. The second half of the day focuses on learning the first few moves of a choreography where everyone takes a turn bei...ng the lead drummer; where you practice starting, stopping and signalling the drummers and dancers. All this is designed to help bring more understanding of the way the music works on its own and with the dancers. With this understanding comes more freedom and enjoyment in making music with others. Sure to be a fun and hard working day. Bring lunch to share.
