About Rnli Redcar
Redcar's lifeboat station is one of the UK's oldest, opening in October 1802 when the Zetland lifeboat arrived.
We don't allow keyboard warriors, sorry.

The conservation work on the Zetland, #RedcarRNLI's first lifeboat, and the world's oldest surviving, has begun in earnest.

Just a heads up to those who use our webcam and weather station to keep an eye on things. We've had a few technical issues over the last few days which were beyond our control.
The good news is that the problems seem to be resolved and we're back up and running again.

And don't forget your #RNLI stocking fillers as well!
Selling like hot cakes! Our fundraising shop has received another batch of the ever-popular #RNLI Christmas cards and calendars.
The shop is open 11am to 3pm each day. Don't delay!
Excellent training session this evening by Chris and Walter, two highly-experienced rescue divers, showing us the variety of divers' equipment and how to deal with diving emergencies.
And the icing on the cake was Chris presenting a cheque for £1000, raised by diving clubs from the coast between Northumberland and North Yorkshire.
A huge thanks to everyone who contributed.
Worth a read if you use the sea.
There she is - the Zetland, all wrapped up and ready to go.
Over the winter the world's oldest surviving lifeboat will undergo conservation work before she returns to Redcar next spring.
Bon Voyage.
For only the third time in her 216-year life, the grand old lady the Zetland lifeboat is leaving Redcar.
Tomorrow morning our pals, the Friends of Zetland Lifeboat, will oversee the historic craft being hauled out of the museum and carried a few miles to AV Dawson's site on the River Tees to begin conservation work.
The last time she left Redcar was in 1963, to be taken to the International Lifeboat Conference in Edinburgh. Here's a great piece of video from that time.

Redcar's first, and the world's oldest surviving lifeboat served from 1802 until 1864 before being retired and taken to South Shields for repairs before being handed back to the people of Redcar.
Good luck for tomorrow, Zetland! Safe journey.

It's always a pleasure to make our young fans happy!
When the crew were asked to autograph a couple of Redcar RNLI postcards for young follower Charli, they were more than happy to do so.
We posted them off to Charli with a few more goodies and, as you can see, she's very pleased with them.
... Charli fell in love with the RNLI while watching the TV series Saving Lives at Sea.
Mum Helen told us: 'Thank you so much!
'We admire the commitment that you guys make to your community and enjoy watching Saving Lives at Sea, despite living 2 hours away from the sea ourselves!'
It's our pleasure.

A proper job!
Stuck for a Christmas present for someone? Why not buy them an RNLI membership. There's something for the youngsters as well as those who are, well, more than youngsters 😁

A cracking effort by our pals across the bay - a few sore cheeks, but well worth the pain!
Look what a kind supporter has given us!
No danger of these going stale!!
Respect...
