With National #FitnessDay just one week away, we've been thinking about what fitness means to us. 💪
For Kate it's headspace and me-time. She said: "It's about carving some time for myself - time away from the stresses of work, kids and life in general! It gives me the space to think, or not to, if that's what I need! Fitness is essential for my mental health." #fitness2me
We've got loads going on for National Fitness Day, including fitness challenges, fundraising, and free ac...tivities. If you want to get involved, ask a member of the team or check out the website 👉

Bird Dogs: This exercise is great for activating the glutes, one of the largest muscles in the body. These muscles can become ‘switched off’ due to long periods of sitting, meaning they don’t fully support exercises such as squats, causing the low back to overwork. Ensure the back stays flat throughout this exercise to focus on glute activation. Dead Bugs: A great progression from the bent knee rotations we put up earlier, this exercise is useful for activating the core as well as improving upper body posture. The key here is to keep the lower back flat against the floor at all times to ensure the core works hard. Came here last week in half term and booked fast track tickets online.. which was totally awesome, no queuing etc straight through, straight in. Even though it was half term, bands were being called out, quite often so it wasn't even that busy and we even got out before our band was called.. me and children had a great time! It's a shame our local pool doesn't do a fast track, my child has additional needs and queing proves difficult, so fast track is ideal for us.. we will be coming here every time we want to swim now ďż˝

Massive improvement now in the gym area, lots of weights added it’s great, the sauna and the steam room are great as well, I don’t really use the swimming pool so can’t comment on that, I’d of given 5 stars instead of 4 if they invested in decent toilet paper, nearly fingered my own arsehole today because it ripped, maybe I’m getting strong, but I put it down to cheap toilet paper.

I’d Highly recommend the rapids

User

I used to quite enjoy the layout of the gym but after the new renovations I've been very disappointed with the removal of the resistance machines which have been replaced with a monkey bar set similar to the one in the old x-ten room which doesn't seem to get anywhere near as much use as the resistance machines and also the new barbell bars feel very unstable as they use roller bearings and spin to freely and don't feel as stable

User

piss poor management, a hot bank holiday Monday and not enough lifeguards to open pools? would have thought a bank holiday weekend worth of income would have been well planned! feel sorry for the front staff having to explain to family’s their kids cant play in the kiddies pool.

User

Went to Romsey Rapids for the first time in ages and couldn’t believe the state of the changing rooms. The filth on the floor, the wristbands laying everywhere and the toilets looked like they carried some sort of disease. Not only that but the lack of family changing rooms was appalling and when I did finally find one I had to wipe down the baby changing unit as it was filthy. When finally entering the pool I couldn’t believe how cold it was. So cold in fact that my 12 week old baby was shivering so much I took him out after 5 mins. Complete waste of my money. If I could give this less then one star I would. Won’t be visiting again!!

User

Went swimming with the family today and couldn’t believe how dirty the changing rooms were never seen it so bad, there was dirty nappies on the floor, mud and dirt all over the floor and wrist bands every where chucked on the floor never seen it so dirty really gone down hill lately which is a shame. Should have some one cleaning in the changing rooms every hour at least. Hope they sort it out or gonna lose some custom as I will end up cancelling mine and my husband gym membership and children swimming lessons.

User

We went to Romsey Rapids on Thursday 31st May 2018 and we definitely won't be returning. We had to wait an hour before being allowed in the changing rooms to go into the pool. The changing rooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned for days, full of dirt, hair, rubbish and swimming with water right up to the steps. The pool area looked extremely run down with mouldy floors, things growing (mould we assume) out of the tiling and the bucket pillars were flaking paint and looked filthy. The toilet drains were full of scum and hair and the steps to the flume were so rusty I'm surprised they haven't been condemned...I'm surprised Environmental health hasn't closed the pool down! Such a waste of a fun place to go.

User

We went swimming on Saturday morning 10/2 and the changing rooms were filthy when we arrived at 10am. By the time we left they were absolutely disgusting...dirty and wet floors, rubbish everywhere and stinking of urine. Getting changed with small children is bad enough without the cupboard you're trying to get changed in being vile.

It's always pretty bad but we were disgusted and will be looking for other fun swim pools.

User

We used to love coming here but last 2 times have been awful .... toddler pool floor is like sand paper .... changing rooms are disgusting and lifeguards and management dont care...my little girl grazed her knee on flooring in toddler pool as so rough and no one cared.. .freezing cold and rapids are barely on ...was told last time that this pool was being cleaned up but has got worse...

User

Travelled along way and was very disappointed it was dirty didn't get very long there as wrist band colour was called to get out after 1hr 30mins hardly anyone in there so can't see why can't have longer. Needs a refurb as a lot of rust on the stairs going up to the slide and very dirty water was cold.

User

This place is a joke. We checked on the website to make sure we could swim drove 10 miles to get there to be told only the ankle deep paddling pool is open. This was our first attempt at going here. Won’t be going again. I have a very upset crying toddler now. Congratulations on being absolutely crap.

User

There appears to be no management structure and complaints procedure in place at Romsey Rapids. I had a legitimate matter which I wanted to discuss with someone in authority but was told I couldn’t. I was advised to use the “contact us” section of the website which I did (twice) but on both occasions I heard nothing more. It gives the impression that once you’ve paid your membership customer satisfaction is not important. Disappointing and difficult to fathom in this day and age.

User

The pool changing rooms were absolutely filthy. The floors were disgusting. Lots of cleaning equipment propped up against a wall, but no sign of any cleaning maintenance going on. The pool area in general is pretty grubby and needs a serious revamp! Mould around the edges of the pool and tiles. Virtually no paint left on the flume steps and so much rust I'm surprised they've not collapsed. At nearly ÂŁ20 for 4 of us, we were really, really disappointed and won't be going back.

User

The new timetable is unbelievable with the main pool and rapid loop unavailable during the day time Monday to Friday, so you can only use the childrens pool area. This totally excludeds adults with mobility or physical disabilities who would like to walk around the main pool for health and relaxation, also older people that may not be able to swim far. Now looking for another pool that is more person focused rather than profit led 💷. Test Valley Council should be ashamed. Rant over and on a positive side lovely cafe

User

My daughter has swimming lessons here and I have to say we have only remained loyal (until now) because of her lovely teacher Lou.

Since the take over Romsey Rapids has been in a steady decline. It has awful cleanliness issues (well it’s seriously lacking in being clean or sanitary!), incompetent staff, the pool and surrounding areas are tatty and rusty, the pool is freezing, and there are frequently not enough lifeguards!

What has tipped me over the edge is when we came to swim last Sunday (27th May) morning for a family fun swim there weren’t enough lifeguards to open the whole pool so only the main pool and the rapids were open. The flume, the kids slides and water feature were all closed. ON A FAMILY FUN swim session!!

Seeing as our 6 year old and 18 month old were so looking forward to swimming we had to go in.

Well, even though we weren’t charged the full amount I wish we didn’t bother. The pool was bloody freezing and the changing rooms were filthy. At 10am on a Sunday morning!!! It was no fun in the main freezing pool, my 18 month olds teeth were chattering and even my 6 year old said it was cold, so we left in less than half an hour.

Massively disappointed is an understatement and I now want to pull my daughter out of your swim lessons. Sort it out Romsey Rapids!!

User

Messed around repeatedly over swimming lesson, went for a trial, told there was a space, gave bank details etc then told there wasn’t and someone would get back to me, chased repeatedly with no luck. Then got random email stating I would need to pay for lessons starting September!! Really bad experience.

Used to love the Rapids when Test Valley ran it but now it is dirty, tired and poorly staffed. Such a shame.

User

I look after a little girl who is enrolled in swimming lessons her teacher spoke to me in a rude way and apparently according to a few people it’s not the first time! she also spoke to the little girl who is very sensitive anyway like she was stupid which she certainly not. Her mum is seriously considering cancelling lessons. Reception didn’t want to know when I approached them about this! Nice to know since the take over things have changed... not! This is why I removed my two from lessons here! Disgusting behaviour

User

I have fond memories of visiting Romsey Rapids as a child so when our children asked to go swimming today my husband and I decided, rather than walk 30 minutes to the local pool, we’d all hop on a train, have lunch and go to the rapids instead. I honestly wish we hadn’t of bothered.

After a short queue to enter we walked over to the changing rooms to be greeted by a used sanitary towel in plain sight on the floor! The floors themselves were filthy with hair, mud, discarded wrist bands and I dread to think what else everywhere. There were hardly any family changing rooms so we had to squeeze into 2 separate cubicles to change. The pool itself was cold and in desperate need of repair, with tiles jutting out and looking like they had been repaired by a child. Even the toilets were filthy. They didn’t look like they had been checked/tidied by staff all day. It was such a disappointment to say the least. We won’t be visiting again any time soon. At least the children enjoyed themselves so that’s something I guess.

User

Cannot believe how dirty the facilities are. Found memories from years ago but left feeling dirty and disappointed with visit this week. We arrived an hour after opening so no reason for it to be in such a mess. Swimming pool needs updating for price that is being charged and pool temperature freezing. Real shame as this is Southampton only splash pool
