About Rts Forestry

Working from our offices in Crieff and Aboyne, RTS Forestry provides professional forest management and contracting services across Scotland.

Rts Forestry Description

RTS Woodland Management begins with understanding an owner’s woodland priorities, and continues with ensuring regular communication of the delivery towards these objectives on time and within budget.

We don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to forest management. Our management is structured around a personalised service defined by the requirements of the client. Whether those are for RTS Forestry to provide the full suite of forest management services or intermittent guidance, our service is tailored to meet these requirements.

From our offices in Crieff and Aboyne RTS Forestry manages woodlands across Scotland from large commercial forests to smaller estate woodlands. Clients range from private individuals to large multi-nationals, conservation charities and governmental organisations.

Our management standards are independently audited and we operate our own FSC Group Scheme to enable us to offer certified status to forest management clients.

Mikey on our Jenz chipper, making light work of whole-tree chipping these hairy Sitka spruce to make way for a new car-park on a farm near Crieff.
The trees were first expertly hand-felled in a tight space by father and son Ralph Yeaman Sr. & Jr.

A cracking training and team-building day starting off with a management site visit to one of our recent woodland creation projects and an active harvesting site, followed by almost all our managers, squads, and woodfuel employees spending the afternoon Go-Karting at Knockhill.

Woodland Manager Veronica Llorente working hand-in-hand with one of Forestry Commission Scotland's Woodland Officers as part of the woodland creation process on the Ardtornish Estate, Lochaline.
If you've got land suitable for planting trees on, whether you'd like commercial conifers, a native woodland, or both, get in touch to find out more about the process and grants available.

Once again RTS Forestry took part in the annual Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay, chipping 7 minutes off last year's time and placing 16th overall in a very strong field.
The race is run in 4 stages over 42km with 2110m of ascent, so it's not for the faint-hearted!
All funds raised go to charity.

Thanks to FIMM Farming for their cracking photos of our Jenz chipper hard at work

It's nice to see our tree-guard extensions are proving successful on Griffin Windfarm!
Compensatory native broadleaf planting was undertaken across the windfarm some years ago, but the extremely high number of red deer have meant none of the trees were able to grow out of their 1.2m tree-guards without being constantly eaten.
This low-cost solution will now enable to woodland to properly establish.

One of our foresters, Veronica, recently out surveying peat-depths for the second phase of our woodland creation on the Ardtornish Estate, Lochaline.
The estate's aim is to increase native woodland cover through planting, whilst also encouraging natural regeneration by extending the planned deer fences to incorporate areas of existing native broadleaves.
The woodland blocks are designed around the landscape, and surveying the peat-depth helps us to avoid planting on areas o...f deep peat (>50cm depth), which in itself is an important habitat and carbon store.
Not only do the estate get to safeguard and enhance a fractured woodland habitat on their land, but they receive grants which more than pay for the works as an incentive.
Get in touch to find out more about the grants available for planting trees on your land.
