Ryden Lettings Ltd (Permanently Closed)

I rented from them many years ago and they are an awful company to deal with. I remember on the inspection they said ohhh the mattress needs replaced because there was a stain at the bottom. If only we had checked the bottom of the mattress at the time as we could of pointed it out to them at the time of the rental. Our mistake...argued the case and they agreed to just have us pay half. Just a money making scam to hold back on part of the deposit.

Do not deal with them.

We moved to Edinburgh, into our first "proper" rented accommodation.
Setup was smooth and relatively quick, and we've now been with them over a year.
No issues when talking about maintenance or billing.

Would recommend.

Recently a friend and I rented a flat from RYDEN'S. We paid £950 pm and £1150 deposit. The flat was disgusting when we originally moved in so much so that we refused the keys until they had given the place a deep clean. All seemed fine so we moved in upon closer inspection the flat had not been well maintained what so ever... Broken floor tiles , scratched woodwork, missing chairs, cigarette burns in furniture and carpets iron burns in carpets, broken pain of glass in window and mould in the shower.... the list goes on ! We noted all this is our inventory and handed it back. We sent them a rather large email outlining they these problems were to be fixed asap and they agreed. They sent round someone to measure up for new floors but guess what no one came round the give us new floors. Long story short RYDEN'S are lazy and full of false promises. Upon check out i told them i was running late and asked if we could move it to midday they agreed so when i turned up at midday to remove the rest of my stuff I was shocked to find that they had already been there. They had almost set it up to look like a bomb had gone off to take the picture. They destroyed a couple pieces of commissioned art work that i had got ( £1000 worth ). We asked for a meeting to ask why we hadn't been given the extra time promised and they said it was up to them. They gave us no chance to defend our selves and done it when they had no one else watching. We told them that we would be taking them to court to get back damages and the Maintenance manager turned to me and said ''Don't bother taking us on we have the best lawyers in the country'' They have taken our whole deposit for things that we had pictures to prove was there before we arrived but because we never dated and signed each of the 150 photos we took these are not evidential proof. They also managed to ''loose'' our signed inventory. They are bullies and they have fraudulently taking deposit money to sort out problems that should have been sorted before we arrived ! If you Google them I am not the only unhappy customer out there so you have been warned !

Rented my first property with my now husband through Ryden. The scouse bloke who managed the business at the time was rude and behaved in a disgusting manor. It has been a few years now since the rental and I can honestly say thank goodness for reviews on the internet. We had to pay a further deposit to rent another property - it took me 6 months and the humiliation of pleading poverty in order to get our much needed deposit returned. STAY AWAY!
