Another fantastic experience at the Manchester Intl Cadet tournament with 8 of our fencers taking part in the boys foil. For Michael it was his first foray in to the Cadet circuit and a pretty tough one to start with. Nye, Toby, Peter and Callum were also in new territory facing their first Cadet International and it didn't disappoint. Really well run competition, 164 fencers with over 100 coming from abroad and some amazing fencing.

Final placings: Jaimie 28th, Angus 81st, Nye 86th, Callum 89th, Peter 126th, Gabe 139th, Toby 141st, Michael 150th.

Great weekend for our senior men's foilists at the Highland Open taking the top 4 places. Well done to AJ for taking the trophy, beating clubmate Charlie Broughton in the final with Jack and Alex taking the 3= spot. Nice.

This is a unique opportunity for coaches, athletes, parents and volunteers to hear directly from a Mindset and Performance Coach who is currently right at the top of his field, working with elite athletes. There will be a whole load of learning to be had from this event.
the early bird rate (£60 per person) ends on October 1st at which point the tickets will go on sale to the general public for £120 and will no doubt be snapped up fast so don't miss out.

Entry for the first Youth Development Series of the year is now open. Some of our younger fencers new to competition might want to give this a go. A great introduction to competitive fencing for ages under 9, under 11, under 13 and under 15.

Good days fencing at the Robin Hood Leon Paul Junior Series at the weekend. We had 5 fencers competing across under 11,13 and 15 age groups. Merryn finished a superb 3rd place in the under 11 girls, Nye took silver in the under 13 boys with Michael bowing out in the last 32. Zoe came 5th in the under 13s and Fergus 15th in the under 15 boys. A strong field of competitors and lots of learning from the trip. Well done everyone for making the journey!

Another podium spot for Mhairi at the Leon Paul Senior Women's Open at the weekend taking bronze. Well done Mhairi. Must have been a well-behaved freshers week right enough!

Oh this is exciting. 2 boxes and 7 spools winging their way back to the club tonight via David Barbour after being at the fencing equipment doctor aka Malcolm Napier holford. Some still awaiting surgery but should be home soon, all recovered. Happy days and thanks to David and Malcolm for helping the sick and wounded.

Mhairi takes bronze in the British Junior Championships from 49 conpetitors. Well done Mhairi! The boys field had 71 competitors, results as follows: Finlay 20th Angus 39th Duncan 48th... Gabe 59th Jaimie 65th. So that's the new season under way.... 😁

Good luck to all our fencers competing today in the Junior British Championships. We have six in the mix today between men's and ladies foil.

Great experience today with 4 of our fencers stepping up to the Cadet circuit for the first time. A strong field of 69 fencers battled through the poule stages. Sadly Gabe and Toby didn't make the cut to the DE. Callum, Peter, Nye and Angus all bowed out in the last 64 with good performances and much learning, Angus losing his fight an agonising 15-14. Tomorrow is another day as they say with Jaimie, Angus and Gabe trying their hand in the Juniors. Final placings: Jaimie 5 C...allum 35 Angus 37 Peter 46 Nye 52 Gabe 57 Toby 68
