The “tartan” glass is having it’s second firing, as part of some musical panels that will be flying across to Germany at the end of the month... the kiln shelf was full with other bits and pieces too...why waste space when the kiln is being fired up anyway!

Continuing on my quest to work with more recycled glass, some of you may remember my plea for glass ramekins several months ago...thank you to those who donated probably over 100 of them! I have finally worked out how to slump them evenly and now have 70+ perfectly round discs...with another 16 firing right now...But I do have a plan! So keep an eye out for what happens next..... 👁

Just out of the kiln this morning... some tartan glass! For a commission I’m working on... I should get them finished by the end of the week, so...watch this space!

Check out this page... Amanda usually works with glass and makes some beautiful pieces...however, now she’s made something a bit different - these wonderful necklaces are very stylish and unique!

This week I was working on a stained glass panel that I was asked to repair... two broken segments, so the panel was completely dismantled, new glass cut, re-leaded, soldered and cleaned up. It looks so much better now!

On my way back from holiday, I spent a day near Bristol learning about screenprinting on glass, with Becky Wills... really enjoyed it and I look forward to incorporating it into future designs... Here is one piece that I made. Back to my aqua colours...somewhat predictable!!

In the absence of my own work, this is a stained glass window I saw today...much as I like the window, it’s the reflected colours on the sill in front that took my attention! And that’s why I love glass so much...the way the amazing colours are projected...just beautiful...

I was at the launch of the Creative Strathaven’s Pop Up Shop in Waterside Street this evening...a wealth of talent on display, with so many amazing handcrafted works for sale...proud to be a part of it! Glass, ceramics, jewellery, paintings, textiles, wool and much more! Get yourself down there...it runs for two weeks from tomorrow (Sat 27th)

I am delighted that Sandford Glass is able to be a part of the Creative Strathaven Pop Up Shop and Exhibition from 27th April to 12th May. It's great to have the opportunity to exhibit and sell my work so locally, alongside many other Scottish artists... they will also be running various workshops, so come along, see what is on offer and why not get hands on!

I’m enjoying working with recycled glass and creating new pieces... in a former life this was a shelf! And now it’s a beautiful fruit bowl...

I thought a pretty name plate could make a lovely, unusual present... so this is the first! Using pre-fused flowers and glass powders, with kiln paper to create the texture... and it was very well received this afternoon!

Stage two...glass powders in three shades of aqua added and fired, now awaiting the final stage of slumping in a mould... watch this space!!

User

This piece went into the kiln yesterday and is back in right now, with added powders to give colour to the recycled glass...it will then be slumped into a mould to make a large shallow bowl. I like the idea of re-using glass that might otherwise go into landfill...

User

I’ve been working on some coral pieces...which when mounted onto a wall, give lovely shadows, or on a brushed aluminium background...the detail here shows how the glass reflects giving an amazing 3D effect. I love them!

User

A new project is in the making...I forgot to take a photo of the first stage, but here’s stages two and three! More to follow...

User

I’d like to work more with recycled glass, so am experimenting using window glass... a change from my usual fusing glass. It also looks amazing when hung in the window, with the light highlighting individual strips of glass..

Waiting for the kiln to cool, so I took a break from the studio to walk Barney. One positive from all this wet and wild weather is that the local waterfalls are spectacular! Exciting new project waiting to be fired...watch this space!
