Aberdeen: Beach boulevard, Footdee & harbour and the stunning walk from Old Aberdeen past St. Machair’s cathedral, Seaton park and the River Don and Donmouth beach or possible visit of the marine museum in Aberdeen, etc.
We are checking into Aberdeen central SYHA youth hostel for 1 night.

We journey west along Loch Lomond, through prehistoric Kilmartin glen with standing stones with superb coastal views and the Machrihanish sand-dunes with views across to Northern Ireland.

& £14 per person for the one night for the SYHA hostel in central Oban, the most important & a vibrant & picturesque ferry port on the Westcoast.
On Saturday, 30th March we head out west through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs nationalpark and a scenic route to Oban, a beautiful and bustling ferry port and the main gateway to many of the Hebridean islands. On arrival, there is a lot to do and see, we go up to McCaig’s folly/Colloseum for the best view of the stunning colourful harbour or go walking on the isle of Kerrara. If you wish you could also take the stunning 45 minutes crossing from beautiful Oban to the Isle of Mull with all round views of islands, the Lismore lighthouse, Duart castle, mountains and the sea. There is the Oban whisky distillery and you might wish to go to a Ceilidh at the Skippinish or just go out for fish & chips.
On Sunday,31st March, the clocks go forward to daylight saving and we are leaving Oban and exploe more of the Argyll and Kintyre coastline, we are having a chance to cross “the bridge over the Atlantic” to Seil, Luiing and Easdale, take some stunning photos at Craobh Haven and Ardfern before heading into the prehistoric Kilmartin glen with ancient standing stone circles, burial mounds and Pictish slabstones– we drive along part of the Crinan canal – have the option to explore wild and beautiful places in Knapdale, the stunning Kilbery route, visit beautiful Tarbert/Loch Fyne cross the mountains for a view of the Isle of Arran and a possible walk around Skipness castle and heading south along the Kintyre peninsula via the stunning Machrihanish sand dunes and the surfbeach towards Campbeltown, where we stay for the night. We have a chance to walk over to the tidal Davaar tidal island and heading towards the Mull of Kintyre with views over to Northern Ireland from Southend. Depending on the group’s preferences and the weather, we might swap the route of day 1 and day 2 around and do the journey in reverse.

however if you prefer, you are free to stay elsewhere for those 3 nights, incl. a B&B or hotel, it will make no difference to the tour, as we drop you off at night and pick you up again in the morning

As on Friday, 5th April teaching ends at Stirling Uni, we will be leaving, as soon as the last person in the group finishes the last lecture “before the reading week starts” and is ready.
We are spending the first night in central Oban, the pre-booked hostel is £18 per person per night,
the second night we spend right in the heart of picturesque Tobermory at the SYHA hostel on the Isle of Mull, pre-booked for £20 per per person per night.
The other extras are the Oban to Craignure/Isle of Mull return ferry for £7.40 per person
and the Fionnphort/Isle of Mull to Iona return ferry for £3.50 per person.
On Friday, 5th April we head through the Trossachs nationalpark to Oban, a beautiful and bustling ferry port and the main gateway to many of the Hebridean islands.
On Saturday, 6th April, we take the stunning 45 minutes crossing from beautiful Oban to the Isle of Mull with all round views of islands, the Lismore lighthouse, Duart castle, mountains and the sea On the Isle of Mull, a nature & wildlife haven, we will be exploring the SW parts with some of the most dramatic and wild scenery before arriving on the isle of Iona, Scotland’s spiritual capital with awesome beaches to watch the sunset and enjoy the views across to the isles of Mull, Staffa, Treshniish, Coll, Tiree, Colonsay, Scarba, Jura and the mountains on the Scottish mainland We are travelling at a time when live re-awakes, the flowers are blooming, the lambs are born and spring tends to be the driest and sunniest on the Westcoast with a real Atlantic coast Hebridean get away from it all feel. From the Isle of Iona we are heading back to Mull and travelling along the spectacular NW coast to picturesque Tobermory, where we spend the night.
On Sunday, 7th April we can either spend more time on Mull or after leaving Mull have more time in Oban or spend more time one of the various dramatic routes with numerous stops back to Stirling.
