Scotia Aid - Sierra Leone

About Scotia Aid - Sierra Leone

Scotia Aid is a charity based in Scotland that ships donated resources to schools and technical colleges in Sierra Leone as well as raising awareness of the hardships that children face living in Sierra Leone.

Scotia Aid - Sierra Leone Description

Scotia Aid Sierra Leone was launched in May 2010 by a small team of businessmen with the objective of improving the educational and learning opportunities of children and young people in Sierra Leone by the renovation and refurbishment of schools.

Scotia Aid collects resources such as desks, chairs, teaching aids, sewing machines, ICT equipment and sports equipment primarily donated from schools and businesses in the United Kingdom and transports them via shipping container to schools and technical colleges in Sierra Leone. The charity’s secondary objective is to increase the awareness of Scottish pupils of the hardships experienced by children in West Africa. We have sought to achieve this by creating international school partnerships between Scottish and Sierra Leonean schools.

Today - we got the trophies back to the winners of The Big Gig after being engraved. Most band members were not in school unfortunately - as you can see by the photos.
I'm sure they will have their own photos when they are together with the trophy.

We are only at the beginning of our mission, which is to build many more schools, making a huge difference to the children and giving them the chance in life, which they richly deserve. We would like to thank Motherwell Phoenix Boys Club who kindly donated;
110 football tops, 92 pairs of shorts , 34 tracksuit tops and 7 jackets to the charity Scotia Aid.
The club would like to thank players , coaches and parents past an present for their donations .This gesture , which seems small to some , will mean the Phoenix kits go to underprivileged children in Sierra Leone.
