This was a bucket list wish dream come true. Maureen runs a top notch operation and it was fun from start to finish. I LOVED meeting new people....riding amazing horses and seeing spectacular scenery. It is truly mind boggling what you can see from the back of a horse in the wilds of Scotland. I would do this trip over and over if I could. The horse I had Melvin was an awesome mount....she responded well and knew she had a FIRST TIME ENGLISH rider on her back. Maureen knew I was considering riding ENGLISH for the first time ever....but I thought I would take and try it out in the riding ring or on a small first ride. NOPE...she surprises me...puts me in the saddle and I rode four days in pure comfort and was not afraid at all. I may have to add an English saddle to the mix for easy afternoon rides. You will never see mountains and glens like you do on this trip and the forest rides are breathtaking. The lodging is top notch. Who gets to stay in a castle two nights and an amazing cottage which was my favorite of all. The rooms and Bistro at the Equine center are well appointed and the meals provided are more than you can ever eat. All in all.....this was a trip of a lifetime I did with my Bestie.....and I will be forever grateful to have these memories. Contact Maureen now and make your reservations.....she goes above and beyond to make sure that everything you need is taken care of. Thank you Scottish Equestrian Center.......I hope to be able to do it again someday.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Scottish Equestrian Hotel. My children and I had wonderful riding experiences. The staff are passionate about their jobs. They are knowledgeable and put safety first. They do a wonderful job matching horses to riders. They also do a terrific job being polite and patient to customers that present various special needs. When on the trail staff members are very respectful, knowledgeable, and fun. They truly seem to care about their work and love their jobs. The staff all knew each horse’s temperament extensively. Paul, Sandra, Leann, Becky, and all the rest of the team are truly wonderful people. They have an immense respect for Maureen. Maureen is the classic example of a manager that is part of the team. In college I did an internship with a fabulous business owner that still runs a breeding farm. She like Maureen manages numerous horses and employees. She like Maureen is part of the team that makes the system run smoothly. I have worked on horse farms where management fails miserably. Management isn’t part of the team. Sandra did a wonderful job instructing our group. Her knowledge and ability to instruct new students was amazing. Her ability to analyze each rider and assist them to improve their seat to be more centered and balanced exhibited immense experience and professionalism. Lanark is a beautiful town. To stay at the hotel and ride with a business that is managed by someone with their heart and soul in the business was wonderful. I took a chance by choosing the Scottish Equestrian Hotel. I had never been to Scotland before this trip. I took a chance by choosing this wonderful place to stay. I am so glad I took that chance. I thoroughly enjoyed riding through the beautiful area of Lanark. I would love to visit again one day.
