New PDRA now position in Gill Douce's lab at the University of Glasgow. The project is focussed on understanding the relationship between C. difficile and induction of inflammatory responses in vivo. This is part of a consortium project and the successful applicant will be working with two other PDRA's based in Newcastle and Sheffield respectively. This project has a significant emphasis on immune activation and may suit someone with a background in Immunology. http://www.gla.ac.uk/about/jobs/vacancies /

It is aimed at those seeking support for start-up formation, or growth of their existing start-up with the winners of the regional tour events taking part in an industry-led “boot camp” before pitching their ideas to an audience of around 330 CEOs, business angels and potential business partners at St James’ Palace.

Trust me, I’m a doctor is coming back for a new series on BBC Two – and the doctors need your help!
They have teamed up with researchers at the University of Glasgow, Dr Emilie Combet (Lecturer in Human Nutrition, School of Medicine) and Dr Bill Mullen (Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of Cardiovascular & Medical Sciences).
The team will be looking at two important health stories, the first will look at the effects of vegetable oil on heart health, and the second will ...investigate whether protein supplements actually help muscle growth.
The team still need more volunteers for the two Glasgow-based studies:
25-75 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE NOT ON REGULAR MEDICATION to take part in our oil experiment (drinking two tablespoons of vegetable oil a day to see if it improves heart health)
50-70 YEAR OLDS to take part in our protein experiment (exercising and drinking protein supplements three times a week to see if it helps muscle growth)
If either of these stories interests you please follow this link to enter your details by visiting Upcoming BIG experiments.
Or if you would like more info about the experiments please email trustme@bbc.co.uk
These are big experiments and we need a wide range of people, so please share this with your friends, family and colleagues.
Thanks for your help,
The Trust Me team‌
