Scottish Islands Explorer - Ravenspoint Press Ltd

About Scottish Islands Explorer - Ravenspoint Press Ltd

Scottish Islands Explorer magazine was founded on Fair Isle, in Shetland, by Linda Grieve in January 2000 and published by Island Publications. Seven years later the title was sold to Jeremy Smith and moved to Sussex where it was published by Silver Sea Press. He died, aged only 35, in February 2010 and the title was acquired by John Humphries, who had been working as a freelance on the magazine for seven years. His new company, Ravenspoint Press Ltd, is responsible for the publication. John lives in Suffolk, in the middle of East Anglia, and runs the publication through his home /office as well as through the back office at Kershader in the South Lochs area of the Isle of Lewis. Over 200 writers have contributed articles to the magazine during its ten-year history. There are 165 islands of over 40 acres - and almost 500 that could be written about - off the Scottish coast. It is a 52-page, full-colour, bi-monthly publication that is available in retail shops and by subscription.
