Epic! Skate coming across the surface to the boat. Big thanks to one of our customers, Ryan Mcewan with his fantastic drone skills 👌

User

3 days out on the skate: Had 9 skate in total, couple of doggies and a good few spurs to around 8lbs. Saturday and today being the most productive with 4 skate each day, but yesterday’s lone skate has probably been the most energetic fish we have ever seen- a 135lb male. Took 3 attempts to get him on the platform and nearly escaping twice, taking big dives from the bottom and almost ripping the rod from the anglers hand. Also had a couple of bite offs on the 250lb mono. Leaves us wondering what else is down there. Skate came in at 72, 43, 204, 73, 135, 176, 85, 166 and 126lbs.

Let the fun and games begin...

Bit of a slow day yesterday on the skate fishing, but managed one big girl. Well done to jack on his first skate and very well played on the light gear 🎣🎣. 191lbs on a 20-50lb class 😀

User

Good wee day on the skate, nice flat calm conditions and certainly no sunburn for a change 😂. Landed 3 skate at 39, 174 and 174lbs. Two different fish! Also had a 5lb spurdog on the general rod too 🎣🎣

User

Make that a treble 🤣🤣

User

Double hook up 🎣🎣

User

A much better day out on the skate today, with a change up on the mark we had some spurdog action, a black mouth doggie of 1lb 7oz and a LSD. 3 skate to the boat in all coming in at 177, 168 and 180lbs. Also tagged in some pics from Fridays general fishing trial too.

First day back on the skate today seen abit of a slow start with the first fish coming on to a new type of rod that we were trying out. Rod snapped and the fish was lost. Picked up a doggie on the general rod and not long after 2 skate with in 5 min! So we landed a 178lb and a 207lb one after the other 😎🎣🎣

Back to crinan we go 🎣🎣

Announcement time:
We will sadly be leaving Loch Fyne behind this Thursday coming. After a lot of thought on fishing quality we have decided to fish the sound of Jura (crinan) on a permanent basis. We will be based out of the same marina (Ardfern) from where we did our skate fishing earlier in the year. Target species will be skate or general fishing trips will target pollock, ling, conger, wrasse, Huss and spurdogs. We hope to also see some tope, thornie and black mouth do...gfish too.
Big thanks to everyone who has fished Fyne with us we look forward to putting you on some better fish at crinan 🎣🎣

We had our first trip of the season out on Loch Fyne yesterday. Had a good mixed bag consisting of Cod, coalies, pollock, pouting, doggies, cuckoo wrasse and Ballan wrasse. Very lucky with some nice weather and great guys out. Still no sign of the mackerel 🤔

User

Spring skate 2018:
Our season has now come to an end in the sound of Jura. For our first run over we’re pretty happy with the results. We caught 108 common skate ranging from 39lbs to 216lbs. The fish caught came to a whopping total of 17,631lbs!!! With an average size of just over 160lb. We used in excess of 350lb of bait to catch these monsters 🎣🎣
All fish were treated with the upmost care and returned in great condition with the help of our skate ramp mounted on our stern,... a custom made platform for measuring and picturing the fish.
We were lucky enough to have one of our customers to Win fish of the week in the Daily Record and two customers catches to be featured on SeaAngler- well done guys.
Big thank you to all the guys that came out with us, we hope you enjoyed your trips!
Also a big thank you to Ardfern marina for having us and to a list of very good friends who gave us endless advice and help with our venture- you know who you are 😉😄😄.
We will return from September into October and possibly part of November, taking bookings for this already. If you would like to arrange a trip please get in touch!
In the meantime we will be doing general fishing at loch Fyne out of Portavadie marina, lots of pollock, congers and many other species and who knows maybe the odd skate! Taking bookings for this also, please get in touch.
Cheers,
Paul & Graeme

Went skate fishing today with the lads at sea dog charters! Absolutely brilliant lads, great boat, well looked after all day with plenty of good fishing spots. If you love fishing then get out there with the sea dogs!!

User

Went out on a trip with seadog. First thing I was greeted with was the stunning location that is portavadie marina which has many useful facilities such as showers toilets restaurant and shop. As we strolled down the pontoon we met Paul and Graeme our two skippers for the day. We chatted about a plan for the day and asked us what we would like to do. After making a plan we set out onto Loch Fyne and admired tye beautiful scenery.

First we dropped our lines down for mackerel for the live bait tank. Within minutes we were pulling in loads at a time. Even managed to hook into a few coalies. After this we moved onto our first Mark. This was over a wreck which our skippers were able to tell us about. Baited up some lines and sat back as graeme made us coffee. We all chatted about the boat and waited for rods to start bouncing. First was the rod at the back which produced an immaculate pollock easily around 3lb Mark. Then another two in quick succession. We then set off for a drift over a rocky outcrop which rewarded us with a nice cod few more mackerel and an unexpected herring. We then moved on and dropped anchor for some conger fishing. Plenty of bites but wind condition made it hard to spot bites. Few doggies were landed and mackerel flappers had been hit hard. We throughly enjoyed our time spent aboard the seadog and how Paul and Graeme treated us like friends full of patter. We will 100% be baking again in the near future and would like to thank the boys for taking us out!

Spent a day out with the guys at the beginning of October. Had a wonderful time and caught a variety of fish. They were really knowledgeable and friendly, and were happy to help teach a bunch of novices. All in all a wonderful day - can't wait to come back!

User

Paul is a very conciencious skipper and can't do enough for you. He loves fishing so will try to put you on the fish every time. Nice fella too so will definitely go again. Thanks Paul

User

Out on the boat yesterday. Great day out. I Caught a few decent Pollock and a couple of the guys got some Codling.

Owners are very friendly and helpfull. Can't wait to get back out.

User

Me and my friends had a great days fishing was a few nice fish caught today Paul and his co skipper where great .boat was great would definitely use again highly recommended

User

I have been on this boat and it's great! Well equipped and has all the safety gear! Great guys running the seadog. If your thinking about booking a fishing trip, book with these guys!

User

Hired the boat for a day, most of us hadn't fished before. Had an amazing time! Caught loads of fish although the weather wasn't the best. It's a beautiful place and the guys really know what they're doing.

User

Having contacted Paul late in the day after being cancelled on by another charter operator in the area, I was impressed by how obliging Seadog Charters were regarding arrangements for a half day fishing trip the following day. Details were finalised very quickly and we met Graeme the following day at the impressive marina at Portavadie. While the fish were slightly scarce due to the time of year, we all had an enjoyable trip and hit several good marks with everyone catching plenty of mackerel with one or pollock as well. I’d definitely go straight to Seadog to book another trip if I’m in the area again.

User

Had a great day out. Very friendly and helpful. Was very lucky with the weather. Caught loads of Mackerel and a small Cod. Despite our lack of fishing experience. Would definitely recommend. Really nice people. Thanks again for a brilliant day.

User

Great days fishing-top quality.

User

Excellent service with top blokes who know exactly what they're doing. Excellent knowledge of spots for multiple species fishing. Lots of fish where caught, so if you can't catch the fish, don't blame the driver!

Thank you guys for a great day to remember.

10/10 would charter here again.

User

Best fishing experience ever!

User

Booked place for one, as was told that they were filling up fast because of summer, contacted me nearer the day to see if I still only wanted one place, and if I could change my day, I confirmed this, and said I could change my day to the following day if needed, to be later told that weather was to bad for trip.

The weather wasn't bad enough to cancel trip in my opinion, and I feel they cancelled the trip because of lack of numbers, which is understandable and exceptable but I feel they could have told the truth.

User

The chap made a public joke of my sexulaity. Not professional nor what I'd expect of a business owner in the 21st century. Will never recommend.
