This critically endangered flapper skate is scavenging a highly polluted seabed near a fish farm in Argyll. BDNC fish farm is within the only UK Marine Protected Area for Skate and applying to expand by two cages!
They are also using twenty high powered Acoustic Deterrent Devices, demonstrated to disturb and cause harm to porpoises, whales and dolphins. Do we really want this farm to get bigger?!
Please email Sandra.davies@argyll-bute.gov.uk to stop the expansion!

4 DAYS LEFT TO ADD YOUR VOICE!
Argyll salmon farm seeks massive expansion, despite failure to keep stock and seabed healthy. We filmed many dead and dying fish here this week. Please click on the short video below and email SEPA to voice your opinion.

Blue Planet Team made this film on how the Firth of Lorn is improving after twelve years of protection. After a great week of sightings, including a whale yesterday, the wildlife just keeps getting better!

Baby minke whale swims around the boat! What a wonderful encounter!
However, minke whales, dolphins and porpoises are being threatened by acoustic deterrent devices on salmon fish farms, which emit such loud underwater noise they scare them away for kilometres around farms and away from important feeding areas.

Some salmon farms in Scotland are illegally disturbing, and deafening, our porpoise, whales and dolphins. There is a simple solution to this problem: double nets. Please sign and share.

User

some fab customer footage of porpoises from the other day! and at a distance too! watch out for that distinctive triangular fin, blunt snout and small size.

User

some lovely photos from a customer on a recent trip ☺️

This young minke is as curious about us as we are about her. But porpoises, dolphins and minke's are still being harmed by fish farm acoustic deterrent devices. Check our BBC countryfile this Sunday and please sign and share our petition. https://www.change.org/p/roseanna-cunninh am-scottish-govern…

a very friendly young bottlenose dolphin coming to say hi, from a couple of weeks back!

User

Harbour porpoise have a very blunt snout, lacking the distinctive beak of a dolphin. The dorsal fin of a porpoise is triangular compared to the large sickle shaped fin on a dolphin.

User

Young sea eagles are able to feed themselves from five to six weeks and they fledge at eleven to twelve weeks, remaining in the vicinity of the nest. They are dependent on their parents for another six to ten weeks though, like this grumpy teenager!
