Ballochmyle Brie
33 Years ago young dairy farmers, Robert and Dorothy were excitedly preparing for their wedding just over a week away at Seamill Hydro.
Who would guess that all these years later they would be supplying their wonderful artisan brie for our guests to enjoy!
... We are delighted to bring you this great local product, and, on our blog a little about the family's story too.

We spent 3 nights here last week for my son's wedding we could not have been treated better. The wedding staff were outstanding nothing was too much trouble, food was delicious and the whole day was made all about us. We dined in the Orangery for lunch and dinner on the Monday and the food was beautiful. Thank you for making our son and his gorgeous wife's wedding so perfect. We will defo be back for a stay soon.

User

We held our wedding day at the Seamill Hydro in February and we could not have been happier with how everything went. The staff were all brilliant on the lead up to and excellent on the day itself. A special thanks to Martin, Jonny and the rest of the team who made sure everything ran like clockwork and accommodated all of our requests. The Firth Pavilion is beautifully decorated with absolutely breathtaking views and the food was excellent. The bridal suite is gorgeous too and shares stunning views of the beach and Arran. We look forward to visiting again. xx

User

We had a lovely over night celebrating our anniversary made special by an upgrade to the Signature suit with gorgeous sea view and double bath. ItŌĆÖs was very spacious and decorated lovely. With the weather being so good we spent the afternoon sitting in the gardens or the orangery. The drinks are reasonably priced and there was a good selection. We ate in the aura as we fancied a casual meal. We both had pizza which was lovely. Another amazing and relaxing stay!

Thank you

User

The beautiful high tea served to us in the Ailsa private room was exquisite. The room was beautifully laid out, clean and welcoming. The service was impeccable. Will be back soon for a stay. Can not wait!

User

Our wedding was held at the Seamill Hydro on 29th April. I can't thank the team enough for making the day unforgettable. Everyone was amazing and the day ran smoothly. The food was out of this world, thanks to Scott and his team for the extra personal touches to the meal. Martin and the rest of the team did a fantastic job and everyone has commented on the amazing service. Location is beautiful and all the little touches throughout the day make it a truly amazing wedding venue! Clare and Douglas x

My colleague (having used the hotel on numerous occasions for strategic work events) recommended the Seamill Hydro to my husband for a surprise overnight for ourselves and my parents to celebrate my 50th birthday. He paid slightly more for 2 superior rooms which were lovely and spacious with comfortable beds. We ate in the Orangery restaurant and the food was delicious especially the mussels and the pork belly starters. There was a decent choice of wines which were reasonably priced. The breakfast the following morning was really good with fresh fruit, smoothies and a wide choice of cooked breakfasts including a tasty fry up. The staff in both the Bar and the restaurant were very friendly and hard working. The only downside to our stay was the fire alarm going off at 4am and no recognition from the Seamill despite an earlier email to mark my 50th birthday (which would have been a lovely touch).

User

Just home from another lovely trip to Seamill. Thoroughly enjoyed our swim lunch! Carrie Laird provided exceptional customer service, some of the best we have received at Seamill. She paid particular attention to our little boy and made us all feel very welcome and that nothing was too much hassle! We will be making a swim lunch a regular occurrence!

User

Just had an overnight in the Arran suite which has a great view over to, you guessed Arran. Room was great with no complaints, plenty of space and well decorated. Only problem was my wife was on crutches after an op and we had a baby in a pushchair so trying to get through the double doors to get into suite was a challenge. The staff were all excellent all around the hotel and the food very tasty. We went to the swimming pool but found it to have limited access for disabled people or children. No changing platform to lie down for changing and no ramp into pool just steps. There is a disability toilet but not suitable other than as a toilet. Love to go back with our disabled daughter but access to pool and lack of suitable changing facilities without taking her back to room makes us think twice although hotel is great for comfortable rest.

User

I was stressing about my little trip away as I'm just recently dairy and soya free due to my babies allergies. The hotel staff were brilliant telling me exactly what I could have to eat. I even was given a choice of milk (oat or almond) which was fantastic. Hotel is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for taking all my stress from me and making my first family trip away so enjoyable.

User

Had a lovely weekend with family, seaview room made it extra special. Staff were very friendly and helpful, hotel was beautiful, amazing massage, meals and afternoon tea were lovely, took full use of the facilities, even managed a walk along the beach. Thank you also to the lady in the gift shop who took very good care of mum while she shopped. We will certainly be back. Would highly recommend.

User

Got married here yesterday and it was incredible. The team were absolutely fantastic throughout the hotel, Reception, restaurant, the Firth Pavilion Team, chefs, housekeeping (rooms were sparkling) Martin looked after us every single step of the way from arrival right through to departure. The venue was beautiful and set up to perfection. We have been told by so many of our guests that it was the best wedding theyŌĆÖve ever attended, the food especially was out of this world! Everything was a dream and we are so grateful to the Seamill Hydro Team. Thank you all, you made our dream wedding a reality. Mr and Mrs Mauchlen xxx

User

Fantastic hotel and great service. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. Beautiful rooms with lovely views. My mum and dad have been several times and we always visited them and enjoyed the pool and had meals. First time without my mum sadly but lovely supportive staff throughout our stay. We will definitely be back. Lots of happy memories xx

User

Fabulous overnight stay with the family. We had beautiful sea views over to Arran from our rooms. The rooms were bright, spacious, well decorated - everything you could wish for. We had a delicious dinner in The Orangery - both mum and dad thought the food was better than a Michelin restaurant we'd previously eaten in. All staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was just okay; maybe the delicious meal the night before made our expectations high. Well worth a visit. Beautiful setting ’┐Į

User

A fantastic place for a weekend break or a family celebration. In our case it was a family celebration for a 70th birthday, our group consisted of 10 adults and 8 grand children. There was lots for us to do with the beach at the back of the hotel and indoor pool if the weather changed. The rooms and meals were first class with no complaints so good that we are going back next year for my 70th birthday.

User

Myself and husband just back from an overnight. Room was perfect, dinner was perfect. The only negative was we both booked into the spa for a massage and treatment. My husband said his was delightful however I felt mine wasn't worth the money. The girl was really friendly but I had to ask her to dim lights, I didn't feel relaxed, I felt she was just rubbing different products into my skin. I am pregnant ready to go in 4 weeks. Never touched my feet or arms, hands. Her nails where very long and kept catching me. I also never lay down till about 12.10 and she finished my treatment just after 12.45 I was meant to have 55 mins. The treatment cost my husband ┬Ż60. Maybe I was expecting something different, I just assumed she would massage oils into my skin rather than applying them. I was expecting to feel relaxed when I left but I just felt disappointed if am honest.

User

I was at the Orangery with family on 4th. August and all six of us had a really nice meal, helpful bar tender before meal and restraunt staff very good. Because of this my wife and myself decided to go back last Saturday,25th. August. What a mistake that was! My wife ordered chicken and rice soup as a starter, two tiny pieces of chicken and as many grains of rice and not particularly tasty. She then had the spiced tampura monkfish tails. The tempura was soggy and the fish was like eating plastic,it was not nice at all. However I did enjoy my own starter but my main was only ok. Not one member of the waiting staff asked if we had enjoyed our meals after our main courses. It would seem that the waiting staff have been told not to ask if the meal was enjoyed if there is food being returned. Had my wife not wanted to make a fuss in the restaurant I would have made my feelings known, however we did speak to the duty manager before we left. I have given a three star rating as our previous visit was good otherwise it would probably have been one star.
