Outlander, the hit Jacobite-time-travelling TV series, is back in Perthshire for filming.

Scotland will host the biggest event in women’s golf from 9 – 15 September 2019 when the Solheim Cup is played over the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles.
It takes just under an hour to drive from Killiecrankie or just over an hour by train from nearby Pitlochry in normal circumstances. During the tournament there will be additional facilities including a pre-booked on-site car park, a Park & Ride option at Perth with link to Gleneagles, plus an enhanced rail service (inclu...ding from Pitlochry) to Gleneagles with a shuttle to the course.

Looking for an easy walk that rewards with colour, interest, history, archaeology, big views, open moors, wooded paths and a magical picnic spot? Introducing the Pitlochry to Strathtay section of the Rob Roy Way over Fonab Moor.
This is the first (or last) part of a long distance footpath named after the Scottish folk hero, Rob Roy MacGregor, who roamed this area. Both he and his father fought at the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689.
However, this section of the path travels... much further back in history to the Bronze Age. Standing in a clearing on the shoulder of a rise in a site known as Clachan An Diridh is a stone circle that dates possibly to 1600 BC.
There are 3 standing stones and a 4th lying in fragments nearby which probably formed what is known as a “four poster”.
Records of archaeology surveys go back to 1942. The most recent was done in October 2012 when the Forestry Commission Scotland funded a test pit survey. Results of that indicate that significant buried archaeology extends beyond the visible surface remains.
The views from there over the R Tummel to Ben Vrackie and beyond are now limited by dense forest. However, walk on another half mile or so and the vista opens out spectacularly. Continue the walk towards Strathtay in a state of enchantment.
