Self Catering Dumfries And Galloway

Excellent self catering in Dumfries and Galloway - The Old Exchange was very comfortable, very well designed, shame about the weather, but I suppose its the rain that makes it so green and beautiful.
Bedrooms: small but perfectly worked out and easy to get in amd out and make the beds.
Sitting Room: Lovely view out of the arched window, plenty of comfortable seats, flat screen TV and DVD, good choice of lights.
Kitchen/Dining,: again small, but brilliantly designed so that it was a pleasure to make any meals (not that we made many, but we were on holiday!)
Bathroom: adequate, clean, plenty of towels and surprise of dressing gowns.
Location: wonderful, just outside of Castle Douglas but set in countryside with wonderful views, we were concerned by the map and the proximity of the main road, but because of the way the Old Exchange sits behind a hill there was no road noise at all.
Overall: Excellent, we will be back again, perhaps not next year but certainly we will return.
Recommend? Yes, definitely.

Dumfries and Galloway is often bypassed by travellers, often heading for the highlands and Islands, but I love it, mainly because most people pass it by. I have found that the scenery is magnificent and I can walk for a morning or afternoon and not meet another walker en-route. I stayed at the Old Exchange for a short break and found it to be very tidy, a really good welcome pack of local pork, fresh wholemeal rolls, fresh fruit and as it was wimbledon there was a lovely bowl of strawberries and cream. I loved it here and hope that no-one finds it so I can have it to myself.

Dumfries and Galloway Self Catering - The Old Exchange is a comfortable group of holiday apartments in a lovely location just outside Castle Douglas. We had a short stay here and saw lots of things we did not expect to see like the Red Kite feeding station just a few miles away the meal time acrobatics were a wonder to behold. The kids loved Cream of Galloway which had a really good outdoor adventure playground. I really enjoyed just walking in the fresh air and relaxing. Really good trip.

Had a great time at the Old Exchange near Castle Douglas. Tastefully decorated and well placed to see Dumfries and Galloway. Great Self Catering in Scotland.
