Six shelties, one klee kai and two crazy dog lovers on the islands of Shetland. We take your old furniture, turn them into beds and sell them for charity!
Sheltie Shacks Description
We are a dynamic mother-daughter duo living on the beautiful and secluded islands of Shetland, located north of Scotland (WAY north of there! Like, if you get to Orkney then keep going; if you hit Norway go slightly left and you'll find us). When we're not building beds, we're working to protect and save the lives of the local people - mam is a HCA on several busy wards in the hospital and I'm an EMT for the ambulance service. Our passion for Shetland and it's wonderful people is matched by our love of animals - particularly dogs with mam owning one lovely little sheltie named Fjana and myself having a pack of six! Five shelties (Fenton, Thiago, Thorin, Gimli, Murphy) and a klee kai (Ghost). You may already have seen photos of them. . . They're quite famous here for their "posing" in front of a camera.
We originally started this project as "a bit of fun" - something to keep us out of mischief when we're not carrying fiery torches at Up-Helly-Aa or roaming the hills with a camera and seven dogs or cruising on our motorbikes (it didn't work. . . we're still up to no good! ). We're often involved with charity and volunteer work, so it was only natural that that our little project be developed into something which could benefit those around us.
The charities who we support pursue a purpose which is very close to our hearts. Being in the job positions that we are, we're often faced with hard and quite emotional situations resulting from ill health. Additionally, I have personally been in a position desperately seeking medical help - from a Vet (my little dog Thiago needed life saving treatment at eight weeks old after suffering a series of severe fitting episodes). The Humanimal Trust combines our devotion for live saving treatment with our love for our four legged family.
We also support a wonderful foundation located half way around the world from us - the Shetland Sheepdog Placement Services of New Jersey! What can we say? Its very touching to find a location so far away that's extremely dedicated to our native breed. They promote positive training of the breed and have worked miracles, saving the lives of many who may have otherwise met a horrible end through no fault of their own.
We dedicate this work to our beloved dog Flint - a beautiful Shetland Sheepdog who was taken away from us cruelly and far too soon after being diagnosed with bone cancer.

I’m here!! (And alive 😂❤️). Hia everyone, sorry I’ve been incredibly quiet this year! I can not even begin to tell you the time I’ve been having recently.... some bits good, some bits really horribly bad. Life is still a little up in the air but it’s getting better and I just want to thank everyone who has messaged me with their support 💗 Anyway - cast your mind back to the raffle we had for a lovely dog rescue... this is the bed that was won! We raised several hundred whic...h helped save the life of a beautiful pup (named Kaylee after me! 😭). She has now been rehomed to a loving family too so it’s the perfect ending to what was a horrible start for her. The break from the shacks has allowed me to have a rethink about the design... the video doesn’t do it justice, but I’ve started adding a little more sparkle to the tops of them! It looks gorgeous as you’re walking past 😍 and the inside is painted a lighter colour just to add a bit of contrast. I’m loving the look - what do you all think?

Getting through some of the emails today and vexed to read that yet again people aren’t being careful and being scammed!! How many times guys - there’s only one of me - no factory, no catalog, no big business and the only place you’ll find genuine Sheltie shacks is on the Etsy page! For those of you who doesn’t seem to understand that, I’ve even made you a video of my “massive factory” 😜 This is a wee thing that I do in my spare time in between a full time job to raise money... for charity ❤️ and I enjoy it! But I don’t enjoy seeing people upset.
To save me some time with the many replies, here’s answers to common questions: Q1: how much are they? A: £165 (yes, all of them no matter what the shape) Q2: can you ship? A: yes, it’s £45 to anywhere in the UK and around £147 anywhere else Q3: can you make these for cats? A: in my experience, my cat never differentiated between a “cat” and “dog” bed - he lies wherever he wants! So yea... Q4: can you send me the dimensions/can you make one xx by xx by xx/etc? A: no, I’m limited to the shell I convert from but I do post the dimensions of each one when it’s finished. Q5: can you make them for big dogs? A: big ones do appear but they’re rare! Q6: are these for children? A: no, just pets. Q7: *something in French or German or Italian or I don’t know what!*. A: I can sadly only speak English (hoping to learn Norwegian some day) Q8: where are you from? A: the Shetland islands (small group of islands in the middle of the North Sea).

Hello everyone! ❤️ and happy new year! Really sorry I've been so quiet lately - it's been an "interesting" start to 2018 which has meant me having to take a wee break from dog shacks. However, things are slowly getting back to normal again and I'll be back with some new beds really soon. Might even have a freebie for you all seeing as you've all been so patient 😉 Also in the world of Shetland, it's up-helly-aa time!
