very modern hotel, nice rooms with good view, amazing breakfast you’ve got to try the egg benedict , very good gym and pool and close to shops area as well

User

Very good, will definitely stay there again. Staff polite and helpful, room modern and clean, breakfast excellent. Easy secure car park next door with discounted rates for hotel guests. Was a last minute walk in job around 7pm but hotel matched the best deal I had found on trivago app without having to mess about booking the room on my phone. Very pleased.

Treated my husband to a weekend here for our anniversary - after a difficult year for him. What an amazing hotel! We had an incredible castle view room which was so luxurious. The restaurant - One Square - was fantastic and the staff made a real fuss of us both. We can't wait to go back!

User

This hotel is complete luxury - the room, the bed, bathroom, all spotlessly clean and truly lovely - the mood lighting is a nice feature and fun to play with - the staff are so friendly and always keen to help, we haven’t eaten in the restaurant but the bar food is very nice and elegantly served - all in all a very nice place to stay in the heart of Edinburgh, we won’t want to go home

The whole Sheraton Spa Experience was excellent. From entering to leaving the staff were very helpful, attentive and always smiling. We didn’t leave ourselves enough time to enjoy the various fantastic areas in the Spa, so many to choose from. Treatment was a lovely relaxing experience. Breakfast again had so many choices and nothing was too much trouble, very tasty. I will certainly be heading there again.

My husband and myself stayed here on wed 9th May for one night. We have stayed here before and never had any issues. The rooms are lovely, spacious and the bed is the most comfortable hotel bed we have slept in.

However on this evening, we ordered room service from the 24 hour menu as we did not get back to the hotel till after 11pm. My husband ordered the club sandwich and I ordered the chicken sandwich. When it arrived my husband's food was perfect, however the bread on my sandwich was stale and I couldn't even bite into it. I did complain and they made me a fresh one. When checking out the receptionist apologised and took the cost of the bottle of appletise I had out the mini bar off!

We have always loved this hotel as it's central and very clean and welcoming. The room service though (especially for the price you pay) was disappointing.

My husband and I stayed at The Sheraton for a belated wedding anniversary celebration this weekend and loved every minute. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Maria at reception was particularly lovely - she called us to let us know that our room was ready early after we dropped off our bags and also offered us a complimentary drink to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed on the club floor which included access to the amazing spa facilities and drinks and canapés in the Club Lounge (including prosecco) and it was well worth the extra money. We look forward to coming back soon!

User

My 4th time staying, each time incredible.

Always a great welcome from the staff. Helpful and offer to take luggage. Always smiling.

Rooms always very nice, clean and well stocked.

The spa is the reason I come along here - incredible.

I run a busy events company and have a lot on in the summer and also throughout December. The spa is great place to relax after a long period of work.

I would recommend the upgrade to the club room, in order to get access to said spa and also the drinks & canapés for 2 hours in the evening.

Will be back soon.

Just back from The Sheraton after an overnight stay to see a concert at the Usher Hall and the service was 5 star from start to finish. Lovely, friendly staff and a fantastic 7th floor room with a view of the castle. We will definitely be back.

User

It looks 5 star but within it majestic shimmer it was not gold. It was too American for centre of Edinburgh. Only thing that was Scottish, even that was poorly served was the breakfast.

Room service options I’m still shocked as I’ve had better efforts in a holiday inn. Language barrier they had a lot of Europeans that English was not first language and my orders were over or way under

It’s not child friendly

I was ask to check for any electronic issues and contact front desk

Happy hour was potatoe chips and G&T

Put it this way I will never go there again

Soft beds and American king size yes I give 5 stars for that.

I felt serious mislead and ripped off.

User

Great weekend for my lovely friends 50th birthday celebration, all the staff were fantastic and a lovely surprise of a bottle of Prosecco and chocs in the room, thank you.

User

Great first stay, lovely staff, lovely spacious rooms, nice breakfast, and great in room entertainment. Bathroom layout is a bit odd, and water pressure almost non existent but otherwise fantastic. Great transport links, will definitely be back!

User

Amazing, amazing, amazing!! Fantastic staff, beautiful room - I can’t recommend the Sheraton Grand highly enough

User

Always enjoy our stays here. Do t look anywhere else in Edinburgh now. Location is great. Staff always helpful and friendly and all food we have had there has been delicious. Enjoyed a gin tasting experience at be bar on a previous visit and that was very well done and enjoyable.

Would and do highly recommend this hotel

1st class

Had my retirement dinner on 2nd Feb and it was fantastic. Food was delicious and staff were just lovely. Thank you so much for making my evening so special

User

Stayed here last night for the first time, first impression of the hotel and the staff was brilliant. The staff was so friendly and professional. We stayed in the club room with castle view the room was lovely, I was shocked with the prices of the mini bar especially £2.20 for a small bar of dairy milk. We got use of the pool and roof top pool which was beautiful and clean. The one thing that was a big let down was the fact we had to pay and extra £5 each for a breakfast down stairs especially when we had paid £275 for 1 night stay. The breakfast was nice with plenty of choice although I was disappointed with the scrambled egg which was very sloppy and the bacon was cold. Also I would of preferred toast to be made and brought to us.

SPG disappointment but lovely hotel

Review of Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa

Reviewed 3 days ago

We are SPG gold and we booked the hotel on points. Any other hotels we have booked through SPG have really taken amazing care of us. From the welcome gift during check in to late check out if needed to being placed in an upgraded room. When we checked in, it was very early so our room was not ready. We had absolutely no problem with that as we could tool around the city. I did ask about an upgraded room and was told the hotel was very busy and they could not accommodate that. We again totally understood. It is by availability. We were given a nice late check out for two days later. We were never offered a welcome gift. The conceirge was amazing..he took information from us and made reservations for us at Fishers in the City. He offered my husband many tips on moving around the city and kept our bags for us. Off we went. We got a phone call around 2 that our room was ready so we headed back as we were tired with no sleep in 36 hours. Once we got back we were sent to the 3rd floor. As I looked at the elevator list I saw that the 6th floor was SPV. I didn't say anything as they had already let us know how busy they were. But clearly SPG didn't seem to be that important.

Now for the room...off the charts lovely. Everything in this room screamed high end and attention to detail. It was pristine and decorated beautifully!! We were so impressed. The bathroom was such a delight with a shower that changed colors according to your feeling...mood lighting I will call it. This room had everything right down to the night lights (which I need at home) under the night stands and in the bathroom. Just Gorgeous. I can't say enough about it. The bed was perfection for sleeping and the view was of the Edinburgh Castle. We headed down to the bar to have some coffee and wake up a bit. Again attention to detail is amazing at this facility. I will do another review on the bar as it deserves it's own praises. We checked out two days later and let them know we were back at the end of the week. They sent us off with smiles and waves and our exploring began. We arrived back on Thursday. This lovely lady at the desk gave us the 5th floor and asked what we would like for our "welcome gift". We were pleased that they had remembered. We did mention that this did not happen earlier and she said it would be looked into. We headed up to the room and again I wondered why the 6th floor was SPG and we were not put there. Again the room was perfection...

First have to thank the staff who could not have been more friendly and helpful.

However, the first thing that hits you on entering the reception area is the smell of used cooking oil ( why 5 star hotels can’t have good enough extraction is beyond me).

A little disappointed by the size of the Castle View suite and the fact that the heating system didn’t seem to operate in the bedroom - indeed found all of the publici rooms also under heated ( the American obsession with air-con frustrates me) Big thanks to the restaurant member of staff who brought me a blanket during dinner👍

Treatments in the Spa were excellent as were the staff.

Sadly the food, both at dinner and breakfast, was

underwhelming.

Overall our experience was like the curate’s egg ; good in parts.

In summary, it’s clear large American corporate hotels are just not for us.

User

Stayed here at the weekend with friends and my partner rooms were beautiful unfortunately we were not told at reception about £30 surcharge per person to use the rooftop pool even when I asked what floor it was on, however this was maybe an oversight on my behalf. The bath was also faulty realised at around 1am however did speak to reception and they sent a maintenance guy but obviously at that time no work could be carried out ! Wasn’t worth 200 a night but great location and beautiful rooms xxxx
