"Received my Double Ventile Tarloc Jacket and Lochnagar Fleece with Pertex lining in October last year and even though I knew it was great gear then, I wanted to wait until I had properly been out in some "weather" before leaving... a review. I wanted to support a small local business and they ticked the boxes. I bought my jackets for my business and Hilltrek did a great job of organising the branding. My outdoor business is based in Torridon so we are used to a variety of harsh weather and so far the garments have performed excellently. As a member of the local MRT team I have also used them for training and callouts. Double Ventile is an interesting solution and while it might not suit everyone I have been very happy. The jacket is very tough and well made, as the weather worsens the outer Ventile stiffens up making you feel even more protected. The fact that it is made from natural materials, can be reproofed with environmentally sound water repellent treatments and is easily repaired are a big bonus. I will definitely be using more of Hilltrek's gear in the future."

We had an amazing camping adventure to a remote beach. Beautiful scenery and fantastic company! Topped off perfectly by finding a 20 year old message in a bottle that had washed up on the beach. So exciting! Can't wait for the next adventure.

We are just back from a family holiday in the Torridon area where we chanced upon Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures. We had a day sea kayaking with a party of four adults and five children aged between five and fourteen. Within minutes getting the water's edge we were made to feel safe and comfortable.

It was clear from the off that the day was all about our enjoyment.

Our guide, Tom, was exceptional at keeping the kids and adults entertained with excellent knowledge of the local area and ecology. He let us set the pace and worked at a level that made us feel challenged but safe.

Tom was fantastic with my 11 year old boy whilst kayaking. We had a great adventure spotting Seals and a Sea Eagle. Tom is very knowledgable on the local environment and we enjoyed learning lots of new facts.

Tom was a brilliant, patient, safe and caring climbing instructor for my 9 year old, challenging him to try new things whilst never pushing him too far. He felt totally confident under his tutelage and can’t wait to get out in the crags again next time we’re in the Highlands. Thank-you. He would give you a million stars if he could!

Tom did an amazing job organising a full day of adventure involving archery and canoeing for a group of outdoor instructors he put his own slant on the day and left everyone inspired, and ready for the zombie take over. Bloody good job dude..

My son has done an afternoon of bushcraft today with Tom... what a fantastic time he has had. He’s built a hillside den where he collected all the branches, leaves, moss etc and is positive it’s so camouflaged that we’d never find it! They’ve built a fire & made s’mores. Tom was great with the boys. Amazing afternoon! Thank you Tom!

I love love love going to Emily and Toms and getting involved in all the activities! They are so knowledgeable of the area and it's so much fun! I will see you for plenty more holidays xx

I had the most amazing morning trying Sea Kayaking for the first time. Tom is a brilliant instructor and full of so much interesting information about the local area and wildlife. Cant wait to do it all again when we're next in the area and get the chance to get super close to the local Sea Eagle again!

I could not have pleased with the help we received getting my son Tristan Kayaking in salt water for the first time. Tristan really enjoyed looking down on a swarm of Jellyfish, something that will not be happening in our home state of Minnesota USA

Fantastic service based in Shieldaig. Tom took my son's (age 11 and 13) and their 14 year old cousin for a two hour bush craft experience during which they built a den and cooked 'smores' on a camp fire. They loved it so much that they spent the entire next day at their den doing exactly what boys should be doing on their holidays! Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you Tom.

I had the most amazing morning trying Sea Kayaking for the first time. Tom is a brilliant instructor and full of so much interesting information about the local area and wildlife. Cant wait to do it all again when we're next in the area and get the chance to get super close to the local Sea Eagle again!

I could not have pleased with the help we received getting my son Tristan Kayaking in salt water for the first time. Tristan really enjoyed looking down on a swarm of Jellyfish, something that will not be happening in our home state of Minnesota USA

I can't begin to tell you how friendly and helpful Tom is. His knowledge of the area and passion for mountain biking is inspiring. If you are riding, hiking or just wanting to play while in Torridon or Sheildaig, you must stop and speak with Tom to ensure you have all you need. He was instrumental in getting myself and my friend out on the trails. He is also and outstanding bike mechanic if something goes sideways! Great job Tom, couldn't have done it without you

Had a wonderful morning out in kayaks and canoe with Tom. He is very professional, friendly and knowledgable about the local flora and fauna. Saw seals, sea eagles and many species of birds and fish. Highly recommended for all ages and skill levels.

Had a great time Kayaking with Tom at Shieldaig while driving around Scotland. Tom was great with the safety talk and talking me through what to do in the water. Great nature lesson and even saw a sea eagle!! Thanks again!

Fantastic service based in Shieldaig. Tom took my son's (age 11 and 13) and their 14 year old cousin for a two hour bush craft experience during which they built a den and cooked 'smores' on a camp fire. They loved it so much that they spent the entire next day at their den doing exactly what boys should be doing on their holidays! Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you Tom.
