Toe nail cutting, filing and hard skin removal. Mobile Personal Footcarer fully insured all in the comfort of your own home or premises.

Sillitoe's Personal Footcare is a mobile service offering personal basic foot care comprising of toenail cutting, filing and removal of hard skin.
(If you enjoy having your feet soaked first and having a scrub applied, then moisturised, this treatment can also be included in our service).

Appointments are available at your home or premises.

Treatment time is approximately 1hr and the cost is £20. 00 per person. (Depending on the distance travelling a small charge may be applied but will be discussed on making the appointment).

This service offered is NOT by a chiropodist or podiatrist, it is a FOOTCARER offering 'self care' help to people who cant do it themselves or that may not qualify for free NHS podiatry treatment.

Self care is part of regular hygiene and maintenance such as bathing and shaving. For various reason some people need help and cant manage self-care of the their feet due to problems such as poor eyesight, health issues or simply unsure how to care for their feet on a regular basis.

Sillitoe's began helping elderly family members cutting toenails and filing 5 years ago, as they were unable to self care due to several health issues such as diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and mobility issues. Realising that lots of people struggled with this I decide to go to university to study podiatry. Completing my Access Course to Podiatry at Stow College , I then gained a placement at Glasgow Caledonian University to do my BSc in Podiatry.

I gained so much knowledge and many clinical skills during my time at university and working in a podiatry department at the Southern General seeing and treating patients, completing placements at local health centres including home visits and also a weeks placement at the local hospital. I also worked as a volunteer for one year toenail cutting and filing, which was being offered in the community of Shotts, in the Healthy Living centre where I was fully trained by the NHS Lanarkshire Podiatry department.

As a mature student, married with 3 young children, it was identified that I had a very specific learning disability, making the course challenging and overwhelming to pass my final stage to enter the 3rd year of a 4 year course and advised it would become more difficult for me. I therefore had to make a very tough, emotional and challenging decision last year (2013) and finish.

Realising that the exams I had passed, I still had gained and acquired new skills and knowledge allowing me offer a service to people with problems with self care and allowing me to continue with what I enjoy doing, and that is helping others feel better. I have since graduated with CertHE in Health & Social Care.

Sillitoe's prides themselves in taking care of each individual offering the best of care and treatment. Where in some cases Sillitoe's cannot treat your foot issue due to a specific health condition or findings during your appointment, they will signpost you and advise you to seek professional advice from either your Gp or a local podiatrist.
