Wanted to see the view but ended up loving the venue just as much. The bar staff were attentive, helpful and very efficient. Cocktails were lovely and very reasonably priced. Veggie burger and salad were delicious. Will spread the word amongst my friends and will definitely be back myself.

I had a booking to dj at a wedding (music matters discos) in the skybar last weekend and I couldn't fault the place the staff were professional, very friendly and very helpful & the venue itself is superb. Would highly recommend the venue to people looking for functions.

User

Had our wedding reception here. Great support in preparation- and execution good. Fabulous space both inside and out-so if you want some peace and quiet from any band the outside veranda is fabulous. Sunset over Edinburgh lookjng to Fife from here is wonderful. Would recommend doe any wedding.

Great space, nice bars and epic view. Cant be many better high standard spots in edinburgh to throw an event.

At a wedding reception last night, brilliant venue. The views of my favourite city were breathtaking, staff really friendly and drinks cheaper than the pub across the road.

User

Amazing views, good service and a really cool and lovely bar. Music was at a suitable level so you can hear it but still hear what your friends are saying! I loved it and hope to go back during the Christmas season if not before.

We had our wedding venue there back in August. Fantastic venue with perfect views of Edinburgh castle. Rated 4* as there was a few minor issues.

Unfortunately it can't be helped, but we had 3 wedding coordinators up to our wedding day. Lots of emails and conversations back and forward to confirm everything and numerous as there was a few disagreements over costs which we had already agreed but this was solved over a lovely free afternoon tea.

On the big day the staff we're very good at getting the ceremony all set up on the balcony, which we requested and was just perfect even though we had a spot of rain and very windy but that can't be helped.

The layout of the room and table for our wedding breakfast was perfect looking straight out to the castle. Few minor things went wrong; we requested a specific meal for each individual person and one of our guests only wanted a plain omelette and chips, ended up with a stack of veg on top and no chips so we had to ask to get this changed. My mum and young daughter was nearly burnt by coffee tea pots when they were being served no fault of theirs as they were in their seats. We had to ask a number of occasions to have our glasses topped up especially my mothers as she never had any at speeches.

Lucas and Dominika were great with organising everything, including helping with music on arrival and during the ceremony and after to make it just right for us. Come night time they weren't to be seen.

During the wedding breakfast, one member of staff took our two year old daughter outside to the balcony, as she was getting a little fed up in the chair which was very nice of them.

The layout of the room at night was lovely but after many discussions before and at the wedding about the room layout there still wasn't anywhere near what I would've expected for seating or tables. We asked for few high tables before the wedding and on the night and didn't get them. Luckily it was nice night so people went outside and were at the bar. Also luckily not all our guests arrived.

The till went down at night for a short period of time, not sure why. We liked the idea we could decide on what we wanted behind the bar which was great. Plenty of staff on the bar.

We timed the wedding perfect to catch some of the festival fireworks as well which was lovely.

Chaplins disco (Paul) was great and very helpful/friendly.

When our cake was cut, it could've been a split up and put on each table rather one kind on each table, and the rest of the cake could've been put on the buffet or candy cart table as lots got binned at the end of the night.

Our wedding cake stand went missing which we only realised recently, that my friend didn't get it back on the night I was very disappointed about that and wasn't contacted after the event about it.

Don't let any of this put you off as it's a beautiful venue and these were just little minor issues and we loved our choice of venue for our big day.

Word of advise keep all communication emails of what has been agreed.

Hopefully the (skybar) Doubletree Hilton, take my recommend feedback and start to ask upcoming guests or events for feedback as this is good practice which we to this day have not been asked for.

User

Lovely chilled bar and seating area, music was at a good level so conversation could still be heard. The views were okay and service at the bar was great. Would visit again😊

User

Loved it that you've got a view on the castle but the fact you guys don't have any extra chairs because people pulled some of them to their tables making two standing tables not much of use made the whole trip to the SkyBar (for the first time) below average. Hopefully next time it will be better organised.

User

Beautiful views over city and has the potential to be a great venue but the drinks were awful. Tonic water tasted like soda and lemonade tasted like......soda!! Could be a great wee place but if they can't get decent quality drinks in the Hilton then it's a poor show. Stayed for one drink then left.

User

Visited here for the first time a few weeks ago and wouldn't go back unfortunately. The staff were very ignorant, unhelpful and not cocktail trained, which isn't great when they are charging you £7 for one. Also, it gets very busy very quick so it can take forever to get served. The view is incredible though and the actual bar itself is lovely and modern, worth a visit but like I say, I won't be back.

User

The veiw of the castle was lovely unfortunately the service was not good and the cocktails we had just tasted of soda water and not any alcohol

User

The most disorganised bar we were in at the cocktail weekend. We waited 1/2 hour for drinks , there was no q management people were jumping the queue and getting in and out of the lift was awful

User

Nice view, large queue for a less than average cocktail that tasted exclusivly of soda water

User

A nice venue ruined by poor service. Whilst I was waiting in the queue to buy a drink last night, a bartender dropped a bottle of Pimms which splashed all over my white shirt. When I approached him to ask if he could help me clean it, he said "what do you want me to do about it?!". We left shortly after, never experienced customer service like that before.

Not even worthy of one star! The hotel and Skybar is not fit to operate as a hotel! Their water supply is not sufficient for the building (this is a private issue and the responsibility of the hotels, which they have been aware of since 2015). My fiancé and I spent thousands on an engagement party and there was no water in the hotel! No running water for toilets, taps or showers! Guests in the hotel were handed water bottles to shower with.

To make matters worse they did not inform me of the issue! My guests complained to me as there were no facilities to wash their hands and the toilets looked like a portaloo at a festival! I had to tell the manager to put antibacterial and bottled water into the bathrooms, no proactive action was taken.

I have given the hotel numerous opportunities to settle the issue privately, to which they replied the event was successful. Disgusting operation and service. AVOID!!!

User

Long time to get served so didn’t bother

Just a roof top garden 🙄

User

Booked at table for 10 people to arrive and there only be 4 seats. Waited 25 minutes at the bar to be served a French martini in a wine glass and they didn't have any lime or salt to go with tequila shots. Really poor for all the hype that your hear about this bar, won't be visiting again in a rush… More like Pilton not Hilton standard.
