About Skye History Walks

Discover some of Skye's most fascinating historical and archeological sites with Skye History Walks.

Skye History Walks Description

Skye History Walks aims to help you explore Skye's past from the earliest Skye settlers to the turmoil of the 1880s. Three walks are on offer:
- The Broch Towers of Skye which take in Iron Age constructions around the island
- Cuidrach through the Ages looking at events and buildings from the 17th and 18th century, including the escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie to France through Skye
- The Battle of the Braes which highlights the turmoil of the 19th century clearances.

Walks take from about 2 and 1 /2 hours and start in Portree. Light refreshments will be provided. Come prepared as we will walk in most weathers.

The walks are open to discussions and questions, looking at the archeological and historical evidence surrounding significant events in the history of the island. This is a completely different take on Skye and one I look forward to sharing with you.
