Unique hand crafted jewellery created in Tarskavaig, Isle of Skye, using fine silver with sea glass, pottery and pebbles from the shore.

Unique hand crafted jewellery created in response to the beautiful atmosphere of the wild Scottish coastline, using fine silver wire with sea glass, beach pebbles and sea pottery, sourced from the Skye shore. I also use mulberry silk in ocean and shore colours.

Something about the shoreline has always evoked in me the feeling of being in a treasure trove; a place of unending discovery and intricacy, where every step reveals something utterly unique to the time and place. Each tide shifts and yields, removes and restores, and every wave washes like no other ever has – the shore is full of life and eternity. I walk along the shore here at Tarskavaig and select, perhaps, a piece of tumbled pottery, remnants of pattern and colour echoing a former design, or maybe a pebble whose shape and tone could be enhanced with silver. At home in our cottage I have a small workroom, overlooking the meadow above the shore, where I will then sketch out possible designs, considering the individual character of the item. I hand wash and clean each treasure before crafting the design using fine silver wire, sometimes with other silver findings or glass beads, to create the pendant.
