Lovely food, drink and atmosphere. The lady who served us was very friendly and helpful.

Very reasonably priced food and drink for such a

well situated venue. Only complaint is very slow bar service even when the place was empty. Problem is cocktails should be served at a different area - they take too long to make and those of us just wanting a simple g and t suffer lol. I would revisit though.

Great place to socialise with friends and the cocktails are lovely too ! Definitely will return 🙌

Visited yesterday for a birthday celebration and was really disappointed in the service drinks took 20 minutes to be brought to the table and we were in 2 hours and atill didn't have our main courses not good service considering the festival has just started on a positive note spoke with the manager who did give us discount on our food bill but not what you expect from a chain in George Street Edinburgh a little more staff would make this a lovely place to eat and drink

It's a disgrace that they only have one bar person serving cocktails when the place is busy. Surely by now, they know that on a Friday afternoon it gets busier as the summer progresses but still only one person behind the bar. If the person in front of you is getting more than 2 cocktails, be prepared to wait a while.

Drinks are cheap and good - however both bars in Edinburgh now inexplicably smell of sewage. Is there any specific reason for this? It’s been weeks now and it just doesn’t make any sense �

With a party of 4 I ordered a club sandwich which arrived with half the chicken on the plate not actually IN the bread. Chicken was very difficult to eat and there was one strip of bacon on the sandwich. Mayo was ploked on only one half of the sandwich also. Very poor attempt at such and easy thing to make. One of the party had duck dumplings the duck was very tough. Another of the party ordered a tuna sandwich again the actual amount of tuna was very poor and like my club sandwich it was a very shabby attempt to make such an each dish. Some confusion over drinks ordered but the male drinks waiter was very rude in his approach to remedying the situation. Manager was also very unhelpful when trying to sort out the mix up. Won't be back.

The manager Adam needs to work on his people skills. When I told him we were going to leave because of him, he said, “look around, we are busy enough without you”....I thought this was rude and just summed up the attitude he had towards us from the start. I only gave an extra star as the female barmaid was great. Safe to say I won’t hurry back.

Food good, service slow.......exceptionally so. Not enough bar staff, service at bar exceptionally slow! Saving grace was the burger!

First and last visit will not recommend this to anyone party of eight of us 4 of us got food then other 4 waited an 20 mins we finished ours when theirs arrived prices are a rip off just because your in George street platters and drinks £200 pounds rip off poor😡

What a shame! I usually enjoy pre drinks here on a regular basis and it had become one of my go to places until last night. Me and another female friend got to the bar at 8 o’clock excited to have our first cocktail of the many we planned to have here last night. The bar was pretty busy but the people before us were served and moved and we took their place at the front of the bar where I might add three staff members were serving. The first barmaid Erin I believe made eye contact and was very much aware we were next yet continued to serve what seemed to be male customers first. I ignored it and thought okay maybe they were first. Erin continued to look our way yet when she was done serving again she looked directly at us then looked around to see if she could serve anyone else and went to the other end of the bar. at this point i had now been waiting 15 minutes for two cocktails when a group of three young lads joined next to us who even joked about how we were being ignored. A girl maddie I believe was serving directly in front of us this whole time Erin had been there and had clearly seen us and heard me getting frustrated. She moved at a snails pace and even spent time chatting with a group of men who were now being served for the second time since we arrived. At this point I was fuming so when another girl came passed I explained I had been waiting almost 20 mins which maddie heard and the nice young girl apologised explained she wasn’t serving but maddie should get us next. Maddie then looked again at us and grinned then went on to serve the three young boys despite knowing we had been waiting longer. I then said excuse me but we were first and she just laughed and carried to serve them. It was clear the girls had no intention of serving us that even one of the male bar staff had noticed and came to then serve us and apologised. Waiting nearly half an hour to be served and being actively ignored is totally unacceptable. Also to be clear I had been patient for the first 15 minutes so if you’re a girl save your time and money because it was very apparent that the men where of more importance to the staff.

Was looking forwarded to my first visit to this bar on Edinburgh’s famous George Street. However was throughly disappointed with the dirty bar and extremely rude manageress named Megan!

Clearly just in the job to be paid, she has absolutely no customer service skills, nor does she help her team serve at busy times. Very rude lady!

Also why have a U shaped bar with till points but mark one half of the bar as a no service point????

Waited 40 minutes to be served for drinks on a Friday night. Was told we then had to wait for numerous other people who had only just arrived to get drinks first before we would be served. Very disappointing and won’t be back.

Visited the slug and lettuce with my boyfriend for my birthday. Were in the venue for over an hour having a fantastic time until a member of staff who was not even working that night accused my boyfriend of being in the girls toilets. He was standing outside in the corridor waiting on me coming out. We were then told to leave by a horrible woman, and when we questioned her, herself and a man physically picked us up off the bar stools and carried us outside. She also kicked my bag across the floor and poured our 4 cocktails down the drain which we had just bought. A hen party of over 10 woman told the staff that my boyfriend was not in the girls toilets once as they were in the toilets with me, she then got even more aggressive. It was the most SHOCKING treatment I have ever received in my life and I’ll be taking it further.

Terrible! 4 of us went for cocktails and food. 2 of us had the steak ciabatta, another went for the rump steak with a bottle of white wine. The wine was warm, the sides were wrong and the steaks were inedible. Don't get drawn in with the half price cocktails, the food is utterly crap

When our friends arrived they were denied entry and told as they didn’t have a reservation for drinks they couldn’t come in, I explained we already had a table with seats and weren’t told at any point its reservation only after a certain time! We had bought a round of drinks for everyone and they weren’t even allowed in to drink them.

Seems to me it’s more a case of you can get in only if your face fits!!!!!

We promptly left, went downstairs to Candy Bar and sat there all night spending our money instead.

Will not be returning to Slug.

Firstly, the security/bouncers are extremely rude, arrogant and obnoxious. We were all meeting up for 30th birthday celebrations and when my nephew turned up he was unsure what name it was booked under. The bouncer pushed him to the side saying “move over here you c*nt”. We complained to the Manager who then spoke to the bouncer, and said he’d denied it. No apology - nothing! Then, sitting down to our meal, the waitress told us they didn’t have our pre-order. This was despite us e-mailing it to them twice! So, we had the rigmarole of having to, once again, give them the order for 16 people. The food was ok at best. The shrimp bombs weren’t shrimp. They were prawns. And they were rock hard and well over cooked. The steak was over cooked and chewy, very chewy. I asked for ‘medium’ but it came out beyond well done. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone! Go somewhere nicer when spending your money. Staff and food pretty poor.
