5 amp fuse with 30 amp fuse wire fitted, fed from 30 amp main switch and supplying a..................45 amp load!!! Result= Melted cable, melted fuse, burnt out main switch.
Don’t scrimp on safety. Always use a fully qualified Electrician

Previous electrician cut this cable which then split the ring main circuit. Can’t believe he cut live cable and left it like that.

Quite an eventful job in Edinburgh this morning. Home owner was moving things in the attic whilst I was working in the kitchen. He must’ve felt lonely because he ended up beside me in the kitchen............took the shortcut through the ceiling😮

Kitchen fitters put some extra sockets in and left a faulty ring main. Never fun when you find different coloured wiring but no obvious junction box or join.
