The avocado is a rather unique type of fruit - most fruit consists primarily of carbohydrate where as avocado is high in healthy fats. Numerous studies show that it has powerful beneficial effects on health. The most popular type is called Hass avocado and is often called "alligator pear," They are super nutritious and contain a wide variety of nutrients, including 20 different vitamins and minerals! In a single 3.5 ounce (100 gram) serving you get:
Vitamin K: 26% of the ...RDA. Folate: 20% of the RDA. Vitamin C: 17% of the RDA. Potassium: 14% of the RDA. Vitamin B5: 14% of the RDA. Vitamin B6: 13% of the RDA. Vitamin E: 10% of the RDA.
They also contain small amounts of Magnesium, Manganese, Copper, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorous, Vitamin A, B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin) and B3 (Niacin). so try and get some in your diet if you haven't already.... Guacamole dip is one of the most popular ways to have it but why not try it on toast with tumeric & black pepper or with marmite or in a lovely salad - sorted! ;-)

Most folk like peanuts and that's what they often go for but what about the other range of delicious nuts in the family such as: Almonds, Pistachios, Walnuts, Cashews, Pecans, Macadamia Nuts, Brazil Nuts and Hazelnuts....
Besides being packed with protein, most nuts contain both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats — thought to lower bad cholesterol levels & Omega-3 fatty acids. They are packed full of fibre, Vitamin E, plant sterols & L-arginine which improves the health of your artery walls by making them more flexible and less prone to blood clots that can block blood flow. But nuts are highly calorific so the key is to eat them 'little & often'. So which nut is top of the tree (pun intended!). Well Almonds score very high (try with a banana and/or some dark chocolate) because....

Most folk like bananas eating about 100 a year each! But apart from the taste what's in this fruit that comes in it's own eco-packaging? Well they are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals such as potassium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron, folate, niacin, riboflavin, and B6. These all contribute to the proper functioning of the body and keeping you healthy. But did you know that when you consume alcohol the body processes it through not just your liver, kidneys and... pancreas but through your muscle tissue. Potassium and magnesium help aid muscle tissue strength and this might explain why a lot of folk crave this lovely fruit the day after a night out. And ever wondered why you feel physically knackered after too much boozing, well it's the potassium & magnesium being drained out of your muscle tissue. Why wait until the next morning and have one before you go out and be ahead of the game.. ;-)

Are you one of those folk who only has a lovely piece of lime in a G&T? Like lemons ther full of vitamin C but there's so much more to them than making yer gin or other tipple taste nice... ;-) The health benefits of lime include weight loss, improved digestion, reduced respiratory & urinary disorders, treatment of piles, peptic ulcer, gout, and gum disease. Limes are acidic and they help saliva break down food which is why they aid digestion. ... And if you deal with frequen...t heartburn or acid reflux, drinking a glass of warm water with 2 teaspoons of pure lime juice about 30 minutes before meals can help prevent reflux symptoms. But don't just wait for that to happen - have daily in one's diet as they also rock in aiding general skin health and eye care. Couldn't be easier so pick up a few in yer shopping basket the next time yer passing these little green gems....
